Jermaine Lawrence has tweeted his Final Top 7 (in no particular order):
Cinncinati
Kansas
Kentucky
St. John's
Syracuse
UCLA
UNLV
With that list of heavyweights, it will definitely be an uphill battle for SJU to land him.
Other than Kentucky (because they are who they are) I feel confident -- not cocky -- we have just as good a shot as all the others on that list. Make no mistake, SJU will appear of many lists for top tier recruits, and now that the staff can concentrate on a couple of kids a year, these other schools will have an uphill battle.
Feel the same way, good list of schools but Cuse & UK are the only ones that would worry me
Scouts west coast recruiting guru, commenting on Jermaine's list, said "UCLA isn't really involved". In fact, Scout doesn't even list UCLA as a school involved on their Lwarence Profile page. That could change, but for now they figure to have 4 McDonalds All Americans returning at the post position for what would be Jermaine's frosh season. They're targeting 2014 class 4s & 5s, more than 2013 kids. They are looking at a couple of 4s - but much lower top 100 guys they think would be willing to back up seniors for a year. Think Larwence is too good - he'll likely be a starter wherever he goes.
UNLV might be in a similar spot - the NCAA just ruled that UCONN transfer Roscoe Smith WON'T be immediately eligible this year - he has to sit out a trnansfer year, which means he'll still only be a Junior at UNLV for what would be Jermain'es Frosh season, rather than a senior...
