Jermaine Lawrence, PF (Cincinnati)

Not a big fan of leaving early but Jakkar and D'Angelo with a season we expect him to have could be gone. Think Coach keeps things like this in mind.  He knows how to manage this.

Hooper around helps Karr stay.
Id expect Harrison to test after Jr yr similar to Scotty Reynolds
If Karr has a Moe type impact/year, I don't care if his brother is on the team, no less Hooper, he is gone for greener pastures.

We will see. I wouldnt expect similar results. He won't be playing as many minutes and more weapons

Karr not qualifying cost us Moe this year. No way Moe has anything close to the stats with Karr around.

Couldn't agree more. BE Rookie of the Year also didn't help. Still wishing Moe the best but I would have loved t have seen his best on display while wearing red and white next year. I don't know that Sampson can show the numbers that Moe did either, especially if we land Nolan and/or another legitimate big who will eat up some interior scoring opportuinities and if we have the outside weaponry to open up the zones for not just Sampson but the other athletes who are able to take it to the hoop - which is just about everyone on this squad.

If we lose Karr, hopefully we replace him with Lawrence, then repeat with McCullough. It's part of the reality with a coach like Lavin and recruiting top 20 kids. We are going to have our share of one and done type talent. Nothing new for schools like Cuse and Uconn. Let's get used to it. Hopefully there is plenty of support on the roster to carry the squad year after year. I think the last 2 classes has done just that. Fill in with a one and done puts you over the top.

Rutgers and Cincinnati got in early on his recruitment and Lawrence will visit Rutgers for their team camp June 22-24.

“I’ve been to one of their games before but I didn’t get to see the whole campus but hopefully I’ll go up there later on in the summer and check it out,” Lawrence said.

Cincinnati is also deeply involved thanks to assistant coach Darren Savino, a New Jersey native.

“Darren Savino really comes to a lot of games,” Lawrence said. “He talks a lot, too, over the phone.”

Still, the list of schools now involved includes Kansas, Maryland, Syracuse, Florida, UConn, Villanova, Louisville, St. John’s, UCLA and UNLV.

“I just really have to go visit most of the schools,” he said. “I haven’t really taken a lot of visits yet, so I just gotta go to these campuses.”

Hope we land him. Kid is a beast. Imagine him next to Jakarr and Orlando...

Per Rivals....

Jermaine Lawrence: Some will label Lawrence a small forward, some will label him a power forward. Neither side will be right, but neither will be wrong. Bottom line, the 6-foot-7 four-star is a player with athleticism, toughness and a knack for sprinting to the right place at the right time.

Uh oh
Jermaine is shrinking.

LOL You're right! I wasn't exactly paying attention to it until you mentioned it.

Very good. Rutgers also strong. St. John's in mix @CodyTFox Cincinnati's chances at 2013 stud Jermaine Lawrence?

Looks like SJU will be up against Cincy again for this recruit. Have to say that I like our chances.

according to the tweets posted on jj looks like we are out

I wouldn't say we're out, but we're not in his top 3.

Per Jeff Borzello....

Jermaine Lawrence said his top three right now would be Rutgers, Florida and Syracuse (in no order).

One tweet said Sju and cincy out. Hopefully that is just his current top 3 and not cut from contention.

I saw that particular tweet. I'm wondering whether Rothstein jumped the gun when it comes to us and Cincy actually being out.

“@JonRothstein: Hard to trust anything you read on twitter in regards to college recruiting. Jermaine Lawrence has NOT cut his list. He prob will in August.”

Regardless, I'm not sweating it. There is still plenty of time in his recruitment, although that is probably his top 3 schools at the moment. Lavin is a terrific recruiter, so he'll have us in a position to bring in solid recruits.
