Jenkins & Dingle or Posh & Addae-Wusu

I respect the discourse. I know you said top 3-4 “program” but what if we finish in the top 3-4 in the BE with him being the pg playing big minutes? If the two options were either what you suggest vs him getting minutes on every team, I’m taking the latter.

I also see the wing attributes you mention and agree he can play well away from the point, but I see more playmaking ability and an overall closeness to being passable as a legitimate lead guard than you seem willing to be. He has touch and actual passing skill that isn’t that common. Some people see passes they can’t make. Dannis can make almost any pass, he just doesnt see them all. He can use the pick and roll at a high level. He’s done a much better job of late getting all the way to the rim, and even tho his shooting from outside has been bad, teams are respecting him.

What bothers me the most about him is he always seems extremely willing to throw his hand up and say “my fault”, as if he knows better (bad shot, missed assignment, etc..) but yet he keeps on making those mistakes. Being able to admit fault is a great trait. But knowing you’re making a mistake and yet still continue doing it, you can save the “my bads”
Other than Marquette, Nova and UCONN, I’m hard pressed to name another Big East team that is clearly better at point guard position. You can argue McKnight with Xavier or Posh with Butler but I don’t think it’s a winning argument.

I think Trey Alexander is just as much Creighton's PG as Ashworth, if Creighton even has a PG or just a bunch of guys at every position with PG mentalities, and I'd put him up there as well. Then you put Daniss there with Posh and Kadary as guys who play the position but are hampered by their shot. But they both shoot 2 or less 3's per game. I'd include McKnight and Carter in this second tier as well. But each of those guys also has another guy who compliments them as a 2nd PG better than the STJ situation. (Telfort/Dawes/Davis/Pierre and Duwal). Maybe the problem again is that Daniss is on a bit of an island and therefore we need to expect a lot from him. I still haven't forced myself to watch any Depaul or Georgetown games but have to figure if they had anyone good at the point I'd know their names at least, and I don't.

I think we’re holding Daniss to a bit of an unfair standard when we start comparing him to guys who don’t play the point. Carter and Alexander are excellent players but don’t play the point and I’d take Jenkins over any of the other guys mentioned with the possible exception of McKnight who I haven’t seen enough of to form a strong opinion.

I think Jenkins is a good player, just not a good pg. His shot selection is not great. He plays as if he thinks he’s Allen Iverson. He should be 4th or 5th on the team in shot attempts. Soriano, Luis, Dingle and then Ledlum should be top shot takers. He doesn’t allow other guys to get shots in the flow of the offense. He’s not a Villanova or creighton type player that penetrates and finds the open man. Too often he penetrates and guys are waiting open for a shot and he doesn’t give up the ball. Ball movement is not great with him on the floor. PG should make sure team is taking good quality shots and he takes the worst shots on the team. His shot is not as bad as his percentage, he just takes too many poor shots. He has a negative affect on Soriano and Dingle’s scoring because they wait for the game to come to them. Luis and Ledlum are affected less because they’re aggressive in looking for their shots. Overall most of the other guys would benefit from better ball movement. With all that said, Jenkins is still our best option at the position. Just shouldn’t take more than 10 shots a game. He can be better if he took better shots and made an effort at trying to get the ball moving so that his scorers can get in the flow of the game. I think that would improve everyone’s shooting percentages.

B+ post. The only reason why it isn’t an A is because you failed to include paragraphs.

Neptune didn’t even trust Armstrong to play in the last 10 minutes if a 1 point victory over Xavier last night. He’s currently working at a 1 to 1 assist to turnover ratio, so not sure why you automatically credit Nova with superior point guard play.

Because I was considering Justin Moore their point guard, he was out injured last night. If he is not playing point this year, I stand corrected.

I was kind of doing the same. There are plenty of programs that in the absence of a traditional PG spread it around very well. Moore, Armstrong and Longino all show some PG skills. Helps also in attacking difficult man to man matchups against a single facilitator. No Nova single player stands out in assist totals but they have a bunch of guys that move the ball around looking for the better shot rather than over dribbling.

Moore has not played since Dec 5th and remains “day to day.” Last night, Longino was their primary ball handler.

Yeah, well documented. If he's out for the rest of the year you can drop Nova down a peg in my rankings.

Funny, because your whole attack on Posh was based on him shooting 25% from three and Jenkins is below that and takes twice as many.

If Jenkins took 2 threes a game, you wouldn’t hear a peep out of me.
Is Posh shooting 25% from 3? I didnt know he was improving.

Let's put aside stats for a moment. IMO this team is the smartest and highest character team that we've had here in a very long time. And that's a testiment to the HC and the staff that assembled this team. I don't care one iota about the kids who left. I'll take this group of kids, hands down, over any of our recent teams. The phrase "easy to root for" has been tossed around here more loosely and more often then Luis's draft prospects, but let me tell you all something, I can't recall the last time we had a team as easy to root for as this one.

Now, can we please look forward instead of constantly looking back?

It's January we're in big east season why are we still talking about posh and wsu. Does it matter ? No. Did any of our former players win us into the tourney? No. Period end of sentence . Remember posh chose to leave he was offered to stay so I say don't let the door hit you when you left
