Jenkins & Dingle or Posh & Addae-Wusu

No one is looking at the total picture on Jenkins taking a lot of shots. The more he holds the ball, the more likely a turnover. Even shooting it at under 40%, the shot is the better % play. That's the best I got.

I certainly hope so.
Just makes it tough when we had guys like Stanley, Posh , Storr etc whom it seems would have helped us this season.

Here is a look at how Daniss matches up numbers wise with the rest of the starting PG's in the BE. Personally, I think we could be in a much worse spot than we are with Jenkins as our lead guard. Not perfect, but capable.

Near Top of the Pack: Assists & Steals
Middle of the Pack: Points, Rebs, TO & FT%
Near Bottom of the Pack: FG% & 3pt%

that's an excellent stat sheet for perspective

It's a great sheet. He looks even better if you just look at Big East play.

In those three games, he's had 20 assists to 5 turnovers. His shot selection and 3pt% still leaves something to be desired.

First impressions are hard to overcome, but he's turned the corner in a lot of aspects compared to November. He's still not perfect, but he's a lot more dynamic than Posh and can hold his own on defense. I'm happy with his development.

Marillac is obviously busy crunching his own numbers at the moment.

All kidding aside, this just supports what most of his detractors say about him. Stop shooting!

I don’t have a problem with him trying to get to the basket or turning the ball over trying to force it into Soriano. I can live with both of those.

I am even over him not getting the ball to our shooters, because that’s clearly not his game. Posh we all knew was limited but he didn’t try to be something he wasn’t. He had to shoot a few jumpers a game to try and keep defenders somewhat honest. If he was running down hoisting three pointers at the beginning of the shot clock, nobody would miss him.

Jenkins could shoot 35% if he chose the best two to three shots from the outside every game.

If I’m an opposing coach, I want Jenkins taking and making two early treys.

Am I imagining you saying he is the worst pg in the BE?

I definitely have issues with his shot selection and holding ball too long. Overall I think he’s a good player.

I haven’t seen every team play, but I don’t think he plays at all for the top 3-4 programs. He could probably start for the bottom 3 and play 15-20 minutes as a wing for the rest.

He does some things well. He can’t defend the 1 but he’s a solid defender at the 2 and 3. He rebounds well. He has an impossibly high motor. He passes well.

He feeds the post but he alienates other perimeter players. If he played as a point-forward type next to a real PG, we’d all love him.

I respect the discourse. I know you said top 3-4 “program” but what if we finish in the top 3-4 in the BE with him being the pg playing big minutes? If the two options were either what you suggest vs him getting minutes on every team, I’m taking the latter.

I also see the wing attributes you mention and agree he can play well away from the point, but I see more playmaking ability and an overall closeness to being passable as a legitimate lead guard than you seem willing to be. He has touch and actual passing skill that isn’t that common. Some people see passes they can’t make. Dannis can make almost any pass, he just doesnt see them all. He can use the pick and roll at a high level. He’s done a much better job of late getting all the way to the rim, and even tho his shooting from outside has been bad, teams are respecting him.

What bothers me the most about him is he always seems extremely willing to throw his hand up and say “my fault”, as if he knows better (bad shot, missed assignment, etc..) but yet he keeps on making those mistakes. Being able to admit fault is a great trait. But knowing you’re making a mistake and yet still continue doing it, you can save the “my bads”

I've never noticed him raising his hand saying my bad " I'm sure you are right " but it's probably because as soon as it happens i'm looking at this site to see how nuts is Marillac going :)

A live watch along episode during our BE championship game with Marillac and Larry would go toe to toe with prime time Fox
