James Jones - Next Coach (oh boy)?

I'm not sure I've ever seen a cluster**** of this proportion, that didn't involve rules violations. This has degenerated into the stupidest PR fiasco I can ever recall. If this is the guy I am betting Cragg is gone next by his own choice. He can't believe this is the how to turn this program around. Nobody besides JJ believes that. Sad to see. Just sad.

Ignore Pelzman, same guy who had Earlington wearing shoulder pads at a practice waiting for Rutgers Transfer

Looks like we found out the job criteria.

Job requirements:

Looking for a coach with slightly above .500 record who coaches in a weak conference and who’s school allocated less resources than a catholic university who plays in major basketball only conference. If you can work with subpar facilities and zero support from leadership, we want to hear from you.

At the rate we are going we will probably wind up hiring a HS coach. He will be cheap which will make our great leadership happy.

Kind of makes you wonder with so much misinformation out there if there is agenda at play

Was just thinking the same thing

I'm not drinking this James Jones Kool aid. Would be terrible and make me want to kill myself without his help.

Won 20 games in Guyana though

As will mine. And not one dime more to my alma mater.[/quote]

How will I ever meet you then? lol. Hate to say this Tony, if they don’t give a flying Fick about Repole’s money, they sure as hell don’t give a damn about ours.

Ha, brilliant minds.... In all seriousness, think one of his 573 sons played college ball at Oregon or someplace up there

My sister went to Princeton in the 70's and I have been following the Ivy league since then. Yale never had a program to speak of at all until Jones came along. The league was strictly Penn and Princeton for the better part of 35 years. With Amaker at Harvard and Jones at Yale the league has changed and Yale's emergence has come under Jones' guidance.

Of course winning in the Ivy League and moving up to the power conferences has been tried before without much success. First Bill Carmody went from a great run at Princeton to Northwestern and now after has moved back down to Holy Cross after not being able to vault Northwestern into a top Big Ten program. Also Steve Donahue went from big success at Cornell to Boston College and moved back to the Ivy League to Penn after his unsuccessful stint at BC.

Anyway if Jones comes here, he probably will have as big or even bigger tasks at St. John's then either Carmody or Donahue had with their shots at power conferences.

****ing awful hire if true. I will not be purchasing season tickets this year.

On the positive side he has had 6 consecutive winning seasons with 2 NCAA bids. Not a Norm Roberts in the least.
Of course I prefer Tim Cluess. Saving money is Gemps primary search criteria. He has to go!

Paultzman, is this Pelzman fellow a relation of yours?

So true! LOL! What I donate compared to Repole probably doesn’t even buy a pretzel at CA!

I believe the guy has three 20 win seasons in the last 5 years and has been to two NCAA tournaments in the last four years and even won a game. His team this year was better than ours with less talent and very well coached. Yale was a basketball wasteland in the Ivy league when he took over. He's a New York guy from Long Island. I don't know if he's the answer but I wouldn't just write him off either.

He's the bizzaro Paultzman. At this point whoever takes the St. John's job has to be considered an idiot no? ;)

Fair post, Mean.

Just move us to MAAC and get it over with. We are not a Big East program anymore. Can't believe this is even real.
