JaKarr Sampson

Evans' hands and feet were not in the same universe as GG in terms of quickness and dexterity.

Gift is and will be a better player than Evans. Two tough games against bigger teams and no help in the middle aren't going to be every game for GG. He'll get better and needs to work on defensive positioning and a few offensive moves and he'll be fine.

Kansas will be in to see Jakarr Sampson, a 2012 SF from Brewster Academy (NH), today

I haven't been following Sampson closely but was most excited about him when he gave us the verbal.

What do you guys who have been following his recruitment closely put the odds of us landing him currently at?

I think we have a good shot. Just a guess. Kansas already has a lot of forwards that play his sport coming in, and Self prefers the thicker-bodied types, of which he has many. Brewster HC is also pushing KU I've heard.

Maybe Smith should reconsider with all those minutes Tharpe is getting.

Some reason I get the feeling Smith is not concerned bout the minutes KU is offering...

But he loves Tweeting about how great his players are doing all the time. I don't see him tweeting that Tharpe drank 4 glasses of Gatorade last game :)

I think he cares more about making enough connections to score an assistant coaching gig somewhere. Or perhaps something dirtier.

Did I miss something? They said on the broadcast that Sampson "has been re-recruited and is heading to UNLV"  Is this true?

I heard the same thing-did Crispino make a mistake?

Yes.

One of several.

"Greene from the corner! Check that, Pointer."

Hard to get the players straight when you have five.

 Crispino is lame

Cut the guy some slack regarding the Jakarr-to-UNLV comment. He immediately followed that statement by saying Pelle -- who's supposedly is headed to UNLV per the latest rumors -- still might commit to St. John's. Sounds like someone simply gave him "transposed" information on these two guys, which he, in turn, reported. One would hope Crispino would have caught the mix up, but let's face it: not everyone in the local media -- including our "own" announcer -- follows day-to-day information on our potential recruits as closely as passionately we do. He's just a hired hand -- nothing more, nothing less -- who shows up at game time and reads what's handed to him.

That's not a good broadcaster then. You do your research. Plus we are talking about Crispino here. He's not a national guy and heck he was former STJ broadcaster.

Agree that a good broadcaster doesn't need to read from notes, but sometimes in the heat of a live broadcast guys make mistakes. As for misidentifying a player's name, that's hardly unusual, especially if the broadcaster is looking at the action on the court and not his monitor. I'm sure we've all heard worse flubs from much better broadcasters, so all I'm saying is to write him off as "lame" is a bit harsh. (What bothered me more was the interviewer at halftime saying that St. John's had shown interest in Pecora at one time, but that he picked Fordham over St. John's, or words to that effect. Now, that's lame.)

It was a B-list broadcast team doing the game.

I thought Crisp's broadcast partner was catatonic.

And dude with the beard made the Alaska Shoot Out broadcasters look like Costas.

B list announcers for a B list so called ECAC Holiday Festival.

I'm guessing that was Jon Rothstein who is in love with Pecora.
