JaKarr Sampson

didnt mean to leave out Moe as a committed player, sorry Moe. Even though these kids had a losing record, i truly enjoyed watching them play every game.

Hey 72-why didn't JaKarr just put his recruitment in your hands and let you pick the school for him?

Newsflash: He picked a school! He decommitted from that school.
Bamfan must be originally from Brooklyn. This is called a recruiting "do-over".
I do not do "do-overs"! It is counterproductive in the long run.
It is very rare for a decom to recommitt to the same school.
There is so much BS surrounding this one player that I frankly do not give a crap about him. So far he has given props to Kansas..almost verballed on his visit. Told Baylor they are in his top 5, loves Cooley because he shows him so much love and will just love sunny Gainesville soon. He has not said very many nice things about Lav or SJ lately.
Hey, but what do I know? An "insider" on JJ said he ruled SJ out a week ago. Another "insider" on JJ said he was announcing "something" after his last game.
I love kids that love St. John's. Right now, Jakarr does not qualify.......just as he did not in September.
If he swallows some SJ love potion and signs I will be happy but he is putting Lav through the ringer.

Why don't you stop listening to reports and tweets. This kid himself has never ruled out St. John's once! He committed here and then he signed here. Things got messed up and we don't know all the full details. He didn't "decommit" he just took the extra year to look at other options. That was wise of him and I don't fault him for that one bit.

He will be wearing red.

sorry guys but agree with class of 72. We need guys here that LOVE this program like we do. Looka t Garrett, Harrison, Dom, Greene, and Gift. These guys seem to LOVE this program. Amir was our biggest advocate. Kids that are not fully committed to SJU will never be. To come play at SJU was always about the passion and fire on the court. If they de-commit, well, move on. I agree, we are not some Div III no name school. Lav is a wiz and he will get another kid somewhere, he'll turn over some stone and find him. In Lav we trust, remember ? If Moe stays, we need another big and a SFwith the addition of Branch. If he goes, we need two legit bigs and a SF. Just my thoughts....Go Johnnies !!

If you trust in Lavin how can you also say move on? Lavin is the one who is still HEAVILY RECRUITING this kid. If you just took kids that only loved St J's you would have nobody or only lower talented kids. One of best redmen of all time-George Johnson wanted to go to Maryland but they ran out of schollys, Artest almost signed with Miami, Malik Sealy almost signed with Providence. Many recruits after signing say it was a tough decision. Would you only date a beautiful woman if she only had eyes for you?

Artest came within an inch of going to Miami

I also dissagree w Class of 72. Sampson is to good of a talent not to pursue. And we are high on his list. That said, and this is a depressing scenario, Lavin has to prepare for the possibility of not getting Samson and loosing Moe..

The first casualty of St. John’s monster nine-man class is now official.

Jakarr Sampson has decommitted from St. John’s and reopened his recruitment, Don Anderson, Sampson’s former AAU coach, told CBSSports.com.

Sampson was one of three Red Storm freshmen ruled ineligible by the NCAA for the first semester. While Norvel Pelle and Amir Garrett are planning to take classes in order to become eligible for the second semester, Sampson went back to Brewster Academy (N.H.).

“[He] has decided to return to Brewster Academy as a post-grad student and to further his education to complete his academic requirement to attend college academically,” Anderson told CBSSports.com on Saturday.

When Sampson, a 6-foot-7 forward, originally committed to St. John’s, he chose the Red Storm over Tennessee, Baylor and Louisville. He was ranked in the top 40 by most recruiting outlets.

Thank you for the news flash. I just don't see it as a "recommitment." He verballed to us, then he signed, and he remained committed for nearly an entire year. He had to go back to school for an extra year, and decided to look at his options. How can you fault a kid for that?

I hope you are correct Marillac.
From a recruiting pov it could bite Lav on his credibility ass if he loses him the second time around because he already lost Ricardo Gathers the second time around. When they decommitted there were a dozen top 100 players we could have put a full court press on but either did not or were rejected outright. That never bodes well in recruiting circles and opposing coaches use any means necessary to highlight recruiting losses as a reflection of either the program or the coaches.

Just woke up 2 family members to tell them, worth it because it means Lavin and the Johnies are a force to be reckon with. We are St. John's! Great news.

You guys are fast I just read the same thing on a Reggie Rankin tweet on ESPN. JUst popped open a cold brew. YEEEEESSSS!

Now that he's back, how are you going to spin this? You might have to find a new team to troll for, because Lav is hauling in a great class.

BTW, you can go ahead and add Carlos Morris to it as well. In Lav we trust

I sure hope this devastating news won't ruin bobre or boo harvey's week.

Edit: looks like Marrilac beat me to it

All seriousness though, kob on the jungle wrote yesterday "goodbye moe and good luck" and we all know what's been reported the past several days. Do any insiders have any knowledge on whether this commitment might influence Moe to come back?
