JaKarr Sampson

He has been there, done that!!!
I don't know what all of you interpret that to mean, but it does not seem at all positive to me!

His, been there, done that, refers to visits I believe.

He already has played with DLo so he knows the chemistry is there, and the need for a player like him was already demonstrated this season.

Red J:

it gets to the point in life where I would say goodbye and all the best. Enough with this young man. He has the right to take his time, change his mind, but I trust Lavin enough to believe he will get his share of decent recruits (only those that want to be here and see the benefits we offer as with our 5 freshmen and 1 JC).

Enough already. April get here already. Already.

Can appreciate your position, but sometimes you need to wait a bit for great news. Know General Sherman would disagree.

Geez calm down. A ton of the top 25 players haven't chosen yet. Some kids don't want to deal with it during the season. These kids are making huge decisions about their life and some people feel like they owe it to the fans to commit quick and early.

I don't think you can take clowns too seriously. clowns dont get you into the NBA. dedication, preparation, and hard work does.

I'm going to switch my tune because this clip sounded very positive. No wonder Lavin is recruiting him so hard because I think we have a good chance...
I can't imagine being swarmed by fans asking me what colege I'm going to choose...

We'll be deadly? Not we could or we would be deadly. Anyone else think Lavin could already have a silent verbal from jakarr?

Paultzman - actually as I reflect Sherman, Sheridan and Grant (and Lincoln) had to endure and have patience - I appreciate your observation; as to "calming down" I'm a big believer in that and for those of us with high energy and nerves, "calming down" is an ongoing, sometimes difficult process - although I do not know for sure who the "calm down" was directed at.

I realize that this is not life or death, this is one single recruit; I am comfident also Coach Lavin will get his share this Spring season with or without JS; and one final cliche -

As Doris Day sang in the 1950s - what will be will be. I can hear Abraham Lincoln singing the same thing a century before - when he was looking for that special recruit (Grant) to take the union program to the bext level.

oh well...

all the best

I get that feeling myself. These kids are friends and it is just a great fit.

I was really hoping this guy was banned after not noticing him for a while.

What were they going to ban me for -- disagreeing with you?

Of course not -- plenty of people on this site and Johnny Jungle disagree with me. The main difference is that they aren't obnoxious in every single post. And I can also remember them adding something of value to the discussion.

As for Jakarr, my prediction is that he'll verbal by next Thursday.

Doris Day tweeting JaKarr coming to the Johnnies. Unfortunately, also trying to tweet Cary Grant.

No I believe he says he still not close to deciding. Who knows though

Jakarr never said he's not close to deciding I don't believe. His coach might have, but things are different now that Jakarr's season is over.

Don't think anybody posted this yet but Dave Telep had an article on Jakarr on ESPN Insider today..

http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/dave-telep/post/_/id/1039/friars-gators-next-up-to-host-sampson

The gist is that Jakarr is down to Providence, Florida, Kansas, Baylor, and St Johns. (No surprises there, although no Louisville anymore)
And that he's going to look to take 2 more official visits: Florida and Providence.
Sampson says he couldn't decide if he had to choose today, although Cooley has been recruiting him the hardest he says.
Telep's take is:
"You get the feeling that Sampson could be the kind of guy who hits it off with the players and makes his decision based on gut feel. All of the teams on his list like to score, some would use his length better than others but each could use a guy with his skill set."

And it ends with some direct quotes from Jakarr about what he's looking for:
“It has to be a perfect fit,” Sampson said. “That’s what got to be perfect. If it’s not right you’ll be unhappy. The ideal fit is a team that will let me play defense, get after it, play up tempo and let me get after.”

“That’s the tough part. You start looking at the rosters and where you can see yourself fit in: who got who, who’s coming in behind you. I’m a competitor so I don’t think about that aspect a lot but it kind of do think about it.”

Check out the last quote
I always had a gut feeling that Gathers' commitment contributed to Sampson's decision to decommit from St John's
Looking at our current roster, he would be an ideal fit and would get a lot of playing time
C'mon JaKarr, pull the trigger!!
