Jakarr Sampon get deal with 76ers!

I am very happy for Karr, always liked him. He had a great attitude! He always represented the University well. Lots of luck to you in your new home, the NBA!

Wow, that is huge! One of my all-time favorite Johnnies and I was one of those who thought he was crazy to leave. Well played, Jakarr!!

That's great. Congrats Jakarr.

He's got the athletic ability and height to be a defensive specialist in the league. Add some consistent offense and he'll have a nice career.

And make those free-throws!

i'm sure i'm not the only one thinking this...

but look at that Sissers roster...

is it really an NBA team?

Jakarr made the NBA and the team, and hey, good for him. And he has talent that could develop.

But this is also a squad purposely trying to assure another top three pick in the draft and their roster reflects their goal very clearly.

I'm not sure just how proud one should be in this scenario where half of us slobs could be the 12th man on that Philadelphia team. :)

Really? Bug off dude...

76ers problem is not with the bottom of their roster, it's with the top. They have 2 valid NBA players with more than a year's experience there's J-Rich but he's injured as usual and on the inactive list and Luc Mbah Mootie. The over under with them is 9. Whatever, making any semblance of an NBA roster, even that one, is an accomplishment. NBA min is $507K which is what Jakarr is making. Good for him.

To answer your question: Yes, the Sixers really are an NBA team. End of discussion.

I'm guessing that he will be making a lot more money than you will......so yea, I would be proud.

I am happy to be temporarily wrong on this! With Embid, Richardson, and Grant all on the inactive list with injuries, it looks like it will be short-lived, though.

At the end of the day there's now a 15 man roster which includes Embid, Richardson and Grant. When they are available there's still room for Jakarr on the roster either in a suit or assigned to the D League.

No offense man, but as someone who called Sampson's departure addition by subtraction for the Johnnie's team this year, I don't think it's appropriate for throwing cold water on this accomplishment. Any of us who ever bounced a ball on NYC's asphalt would dream of a moment wearing an NBA team uniform in regular season, even for a moment. Whether he's on this roster for a day, a week, or the next 15 years is something is something far greater than most of us imagined. He has grabbed a brass ring, has shown he can compete with NBA talent, and you (and most of us) sold him far short of that.

Man, I would just love for this guy to have a long NBA career, first of all for him, and second to demonstrate to us how little we know about basketball as fans who act like experts on these forums

I still think this this is addition by subtraction and it will be proven when we have a better season this year. Donte Greene averaged 17.7 and 7.2 for Syracuse as a frosh and was selected in the fist round. They were a better team when he left--going from NIT to Sweet 16. Greene and Sampson were similar players in college...very talented, weak defense, poor shot selection, and chemistry issues with teammates.

I would love for him to have a long NBA career as well.

Most ludicrous post of the day. Congratulations JaKarr!

Marillac's well earned reputation as an evaluator of talent takes a hit here...for sure.

If we have a better season this year it isn't because Jakarr left. That's crazy talk. I don't want anyone to think if we have a better season that it was because of Jakarr. Please know that

Really great post; Sampson deserves nothing but congrats with no buts. As for me, I am 1 for 3, right about Cook, wrong about Harkless and Sampson; good in baseball, lousy everywhere else.
