There was a reason Jay Wright took a pass on guys like Briscoe and Rysheed Jordan. I am not saying he would have landed them, but regardless, he knew the type of baggage that comes with certain players (and sometimes certain players' entourages or demanding fathers, etc.) and decided that the program is best served without these types of players.
I think Mullin sees things the same way. You either buy into the program, or you find somewhere else to play. It might cost SJU a few players, but you are going to rid yourself from a lot of the drama that was present in the past. You want guys who buy into a team, not guys who only buy into themselves.
It might hurt short-term, but what Mullin is doing will only benefit the program in the long run.
Doesnt make sense. There is probably more behind the story. Why transfer, prob have to sit out a year, then play 1 year?
Oh there is. Don't believe everything you read in the papers.
More drama coming but not my place to talk about it. Plus, some of you will acuse me of this and that.
Also, if the moderators don't like my posts why don't you just delete my account? I told you that Lavin was gone/Monasch fired/Obekpa out - posts were either locked or questioned with negativity.
He seems to have an axe to grind with someone based on his posts. I prefer reading/enjoying Paultz updates.so much for anyone doubting MrGoogle
Certainly not the case. No axes to grind. Just facts.

I don't think the mods dislike the info, just the direction it was going where it seemed like Obekpa wanted funds and maybe with Slice on board we'll start distributing. We've had enough of the NCAA sniffing around, so I personally don't want to see any of that in print. I don't care if we cheat, of course; just don't want a paper trail.
I do want confirmation that Celia Chang was in bed with someone literally as well as figuratively, though, so please post that info.
There's clearly more to this story, as there is to every story. Next season is going to be a very long season with a steep learning curve.

Stating facts that perhaps may be contrary to some on here, or god forbid you question a move under the new coaching regime, which by the way, has a head coach that has yet to sit on the bench yet many are projecting a top 5 program, you will be met with criticism on here.

Nonsense, over half the guys in the NBA are for themselves first, team second. Then why are they there? Because they can play. Their is a reason that the SJU blocks record is obliterated by Obekpa,
in what, a 100 years of playing. The Johnnie's have had hundreds of 6 foot 9 guys who couldn't block their grandmother's shot. That is why Obekpa owns the record. He could play, pure and simple.
Basketball is won with talent. You must have talent to win. Get it through your heads. Teamwork is great and a joy to watch, it permeates the Ivy League but they don't win out of conference. The Knicks had a beautiful team 45 years ago that is still talked about but they have never matched it since. Beautiful basketball played with a team mentality but it's long gone and present day players are not interested otherwise the Knicks would duplicate what they had. Certainly SJU longs for another Final Four but you need talent. 30 years ago and counting. Did Jarvis bring in talent, did Roberts? We know Lavin did because SJU has guys playing in the NBA again. Will Mullin? We shall see.

I might have to watch for a few minutes.

@NYPost_Brazille: Chris Obekpa bolting St. John's. #sjubbhttp://t.co/L51vxiWSqK
If players are leaving because CM is too strict or too demanding of accountability, I'm confident we are going to better in the long run.

Once again, the beat writers claiming anonymous sources when the info clearly came from this site. How come posters on Redmen.com are never cited in these articles?

No nonsense my friend. I am not going to start defending myself or my sources here but trust me when I tell you if Jay Wright thinks a player will disrupt team chemistry he is going to take a pass. I know for a FACT, Jay backed off Briscoe because of this very reason. The kid has A LOT of demands and Jay doesn't give in to that nonsense. It looks like Mullin is taking the same approach.
Yeah, coaches want to win, but guys like Mullin and Jay Wright aren't about to start bowing down to a friggin' 20 year old to accomplish that. Mullin is going to run a disciplined program and a kid's ego isn't going to disrupt that.
