I wouldn't be so sure he moves on.Wilcher won't be here, and I'm ok with that, all season he showed a loose handle, average shooting, and a propensity to foul if he gets beat defensively, which is all the time.

If back, he really needs to develop both physically and maturity wise and enter his junior year much stronger in both regards. He has talent and hopefully works his tail off.I wouldn't be so sure he moves on.
I won't miss him if he is gone, that's for sure.If back, he really needs to develop both physically and maturity wise and enter his junior year much stronger in both regards. He has talent and hopefully works his tail off.
Wilcher needs to gripe less to the officials on every foul called on him, get less handsy on defense, and consistently rise vertically on his jump shot instead of falling off laterally or fading away. When he remains vertical on his jump shot, it's pure. When the form breaks down, it's brick city. He's a good kid who I would love to see come back.If back, he really needs to develop both physically and maturity wise and enter his junior year much stronger in both regards. I seriously doubt today when he was rumored to under the weather outweighs all the great days and moments of this season and accolades obtained. it would seem short sighted but who knowsBig question is on RJ’s future here.
Great kid but from what I remember from last year is he has a very sensitive camp.
His benching today is bound to be an issue.
Would like to see the core guys back.
That’s his choice. His play was horrible today. Over and over driving into traffic and often not even getting a shot off. It was like he totally regressed to last seasons bone headed plays at times. He played street ball today, nothing more.Big question is on RJ’s future here.

We won the Big East regular season and tournament and had a crazy good defensive team. Whether or not we make the dance and win two games rather than one is different than saying we will be better. This was an historically successful season and we shouldn’t forget that. We’ll see, but to assume we have better results seems a big reach. Of course we can improve and attract very good players, but it is hard to imagine the better overall achievements I noted. Maybe going further in the dance fits your narrative. I give you that possibility if adding right pieces.
Pitino is a great coach but he isn’t the only coach that can get RJ to the NBA.I was thinking that myself. It could be the impetus for him to transfer, although I hope he is smart enough to know that Pitino is the only coach that can get him to the NBA
Don't underestimate how far from the NBA he is. ESPN didn't have him as a top 100 draft prospect last month. No coach develops players like PitinoPitino is a great coach but he isn’t the only coach that can get RJ to the NBA.
Regardless, nothing you have said invalidates my point.Don't underestimate how far from the NBA he is. ESPN didn't have him as a top 100 draft prospect last month. No coach develops players like Pitino
Well said!!Always tough to end the season on watching your team play their worst game of the year. Easier to accept when you see them play great and go out to a clearly superior opponent. Also all of our expectations were raised so this is an especially bitter loss.
That said I couldn’t be more in agreement with the sentiment of this thread. What a GREAT year for the program. Only one team gets to be national champion. Everyone else’s season ends in some form of disappointment. If this loss ruins the achievements of program milestones like Big East Champs, BET Champs, winning the first tourney game in a quarter of a century, etc then I’m going to assume you forgot what program you root for. Any season where St John’s fans are DISAPPOINTED we didn’t make the Sweet 16 is a VERY good year for St John’sExcited to see where this goes. Fun year everyone
Nor has anything you said validated your point.Regardless, nothing you have said invalidates my point.
Zuby will be back, and believe RJ will be back.I’ll settle for “as good. To expect them to lose key guys like Scott, KR & Smith and assume we can win BE regular season, BE T, be ranked #5 and a two seed seems quite a reach. Especially w no idea of roster composition. Admire your optimism though.
After this year, if Rick can't get shooters then I won't know what to say.Without seeing the roster lol
I love RJ and hope he returns. We don’t accomplish we accomplished as a team without him. As far as today is concerned, he was a black hole when he had the ball. Driving into the lane with three opposing players there waiting for him. Forcing shot after shot. At one point Zuby looked like he was yelling at him to move the ball. It looked like that was the hand gesture Zuby was making. Coach Pitino must have been telling him also and he just wasn’t doing it and he wasn’t making shots. RJ played extremely selfishly today. There is no “I” in team. A hall of fame coach is not going to put up with not being listened to. He’s not going to put a star player ahead of the team. Especially when he is still in the process of creating and building a culture here. Now, the fact that it was the biggest game of the year in a one and done tournament and that should have warranted a different approach. That’s up for debate and we will have posters who fall on both sides of the fence. Pitino is our coach though. It is his program now. He’s a hall of fame coach and he’s going to run it his way. Regardless of where you fall on this issue , you can’t argue with the results. Pitino had enough of what he was seeing and obviously thought that addressing the situation the way he did was the right thing for the game, the team , the program and for the what he is trying to build here. I have to just trust coach here.RJ did not deserve to end his season on the bench. Hard to defend that decision.
