Ishmail Wainright, SF Baylor Verbal

This article from June says he is measured at 6'6" 220lbs with a 7'2" wingspan. A wingspan like that is absolutely absurd for a strong and not super tall forward like Wainright. Bottom line though, is he will be a dominant college player and has the wingspan of most college centers which more than negates an inch or two of height. Lavin loves players like this. I also remember reading that he totally shut down Jabari Parker, top player in 13' class. This kid is the goods. Don't worry about his height.

Great line at the bottom "Ron Artest without the mental instability"

Wainwright's commit would seem to preclude Rysheed Jordan since St. John's has only one scholarship available this cycle.

I doubt a player of Jordan's caliber wants to put his recruitment on hold to wait and see if he can receive a scholarship if, and only if, a player on the St. John's roster transfers or moves to the NBA.

All indications are Lawrence and Martin won't decide until spring and Jordan and Wainwright seem to be pointing towards November signings. I don't think one would preclude the other from joining at all.

Agree totally. If both Rysheed and Wainright commit this spring, we will take them. One won't preclude the other. We will have 2 ships somehow, whether Harrison or another goes pro, Amir plays baseball, somebody transfers or Hooper goes walkon. Don't know what it will be but we have one ship now and I'm sure at least one more down the line.

wainright is perfect for our system.....kid is a winner and would be a perfect 3/4!!! im pretty sure lav is approaching recruiting like we have 2 ships! ive heard from day one that hooper will end up paying his own way
cant wait!!!!

Otis my man! No worries. :)

How many slots do you guys realistically think we'll have to fill for this class? Do u think Sanchez will be one and done? Harrison gone too? (assuming Sampson is guaranteed one and done due to his prep year, age, ability. Cause I know we talk about it all the time but I really do think we could land 3 of the 4 (martin, jordan, ish, lawrence). Surprisingly I'm least confident in Lawrence when a year ago I feel like he was our number 1. 2 of those 4 are definities. According to espn, 6 top 60's in the class of 2014 are considering us and we'll only have a few spots open again as well. I wonder if we'd even have room to take back Wood too. We're gonna forget about the past decade real quick. For any Yankee fans like myself, go Yanks at 6

Heard last week that Ishmail was to attend our Midnight Madness.
Anyone know why he changed his mind and was a no show last night?

He was always taking and still is taking his last official visit to STJ at the end of the month.

Yep. He attended Baylor's "Madness," yesterday. I'm assuming he'll be at Texas next weekend and St. John's the following weekend.

Me too would be a great start to the class of 2013

Headed to Baylor. I really thought we were gonna land Wainright. Let's go get a combo of Jordan, Martin, and Lawrence.

BREAKING: 2013 Montrose Christian (MD) SF Ishmail Wainright informs me he has verbally committed to Baylor

To be honest i'd rather have Jordan, Martin or Lawrence. I wish him luck though, seems like a good guy.

I would've liked Wainright, as well. Nevertheless, it does seem like those you've mentioned are the better overall prospects. Regardless, I feel we'll be in good shape with this class when it's said and done.

Would have loved to get this kid in order to show everyone we can keep getting top 50 talent.
Having said that his skill set is not too different from Sir Dom and Amir who both will have another two seasons at SJU after he would have arrived. This loss is not critical in any way. We need to bring in a good guard and a big man in this class.
Best of luck Ishmail would have loved to have you.
