I still like how he tweeted "Let's Go St. johns" last game. Tells me we're further up that list than some of those other schools.

I agree. I feel confident in saying, he'll probably visit in the summer or early fall.

He's done that a few times now. I love this kid as a recruit. He has a very controlled, physical, and versatile game in the James Harden mold.

Can he shoot like James Harden though?? From the scouting reports out there it sounds like that's still a work in progress.

Just a random thought but does Mo's seeming destiny to join the NBA after two years in college (I doubt he goes this year - late first to early second isn't enough in my humble opinion for him to walk away from school yet) make us more attractive to the likes of Wainwright and Iverson in 2013 or McCullough in 2014. It would be nice to get a little early love from '13 recruits.

Lav and crew have been after this kid for a while now. Would not surprise me if he is the next kid to tweet his way to SJU. B)

Do not see him going until after his 2nd yr.provided he gains a few ;lb sand make improvements in hos offensive and defensive game. He will be a pro just a matter of when

Latest article on scout.com. Says UCLA is out front now but is hoping to visit SJU this spring:

“I don’t have a list right now,” he said. “I’m going to make my list probably after the summer, probably in August.”

Ben Howland and the Bruins are among the schools showing the most interest, according to the four-star prospect.

“UCLA is probably the top gun right now,” he said. “They are showing more attention that anybody.”

“They’ve been to five of my games this year and a lot of my practices,” he added.

In the midst of a busy season, Wainright hasn’t been able to take many visits recently. He said he did attend a pair of Georgetown games this year.

“I haven’t scheduled any visits,” he said.

“In the spring I’m looking forward to visiting Syracuse, St. John’s and I also want to visit Florida,” Wainright added. “I want to go down to Florida. Kasey [Hill] wants me to come down and visit.”

Per Rivals.... Wainright amongst the top 10 "most physical players."

10. SF Ishmail Wainright
School: Rockville (Md.) Montrose Christian
The Buzz: Because of his strength and ability to control guys physically, Wainright is one of the most versatile defenders in the country. The 230 pounder is strong enough to guard post players and agile enough to defend out on the wing.

According to Zags, Wainright will be visiting us later this month and Rysheed Jordan will visit next month. Not bad as we also stay on Lawrence and Martin.

Last week we weren't on his list; now we are visiting him. I'm learning (with Lavin at the helm) not to take seriously these posts that count us out.

(See simila post in Rysheed Jordan thread)

We were on his list last week. I heard he was in play a couple months ago (indirectly mentioned it in the "Lavin twitter" thread).

I also agree with you that it's hard to count out this staff.

Per Zags....

“First of all, the education [ at St. John's] is great,” Wainright said. “And the playing style. Coach Lavin said he’s going to let the wings basically run the team, the one through four is capable of playing a different position.”

That quote exactly sums up why Wainright and Jordan will have no trouble fitting in with existing/returning players.
