Isaiah Whitehead, SG (Seton Hall verbal)

What is going on here

@NYPost_Brazille: Whitehead AAU coach James Barrett: “[Wednesday’s] visit is definitely gonna be important." #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Barrett: “St. John’s is a great option. [Head coach Steve] Lavin lets his guards really play." #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Barrett: "It’s one of the first times we’re getting to go to St. John’s, see the team and watch them workout. This will be a good experience

He's trolling now :)

@Isaiah_W15: I Will Be Choosing Between St. John's, Seton Hall, Pitt, Minnesota and Indiana Thursday At My High School At 2:30 ❗
It has to be a subliminal message that he mentioned us first. lol

I'll one-up you with the "red" exclamation point. LOL

So he's going to Indiana :0

Whitehead committing and me looking at my winning power ball ticket would be a pretty damn good thursday. I'll settle for 1 of the 2

If you win you can pay him to come. You seem intelligent enough to be able to pull it off and not get us put on probation.

In my business it's called Estate Planning. lol

Good? or mind f@#k?

Do your thang, Lavs!

Keep in mind that Steve Lavin is a big-time closer and will have what looks like the last visit.

Wolfson is in pretty good with Minny
“@DarrenWolfson: The buzz from two coaches via text (not #Gophers coaches) is Whitehead will pick St. John's.”

Let's hope that is the case, as I'm feeling pretty good about this thing right about now.

To say that schools recruiting Isaiah Whitehead are surprised about his impending announcement would be an understatement.

Clearly Zach knows.

@NYPost_Brazille: For those asking about Whitehead, think about schools in final five he has visited or will and schools he hasn't. Could give you a good idea

@EvanDanielsFOX: Remember that Isaiah Whitehead is scheduled to visit St. John's tomorrow, just a day before he announces. Liking their chances.

ESPN Insider

@grosenstein: Interested to see how this Isaiah Whitehead recruitment plays out. Sounds like he might stay local.

Please don't be seton hall! Close the deal Lavs baby! :)

“@jeffborzello: Made my Crystal Ball pick around 10, went with the Johnnies. He visits tomorrow. RT @alexpittruss: you got a gut instinct about this one?””

Has a lot of predictions for SHU. What gets me a bit nervous is he ll get more PT at SHU. If Lavin decides to go w a 3 guard line up next year ,Whitehead will get his share of PT here.

Assuming everyone comes back and he's bigger than our returnees, I think the key is selling him on playing SF as a freshman, then moving to his natural position as a soph. Or perhaps not even letting him know that until he's on campus and it's too late to back out.
I don't think Lavin has to sell him as a sf. I think he has to sell him on a 3 guard line up, which would make a lot of sense if he commits.

If he comes we would see some 4 guard sets. This is lavin we are talking about.

Bingo. I feel the exact same way...play your best five no matter who they are.
No inside info, but I have a feeling Whitehead commits during the visit or right after. St. John's is a Final Four caliber team next year and that kind of winning in his hometown will make him a legend.

How good could SJU be in 2015 with a backcourt of Jordan (JR) and Whitehead (SO) to go with seniors Balamou, Jones, and maybe even Obekpa and/or Sampson?

Good insight Marillac.

“@AdamZagoria: With decision looming, Isaiah Whitehead's AAU coach breaks down his final 5 schoolshttp://zagsblog.com/articles/whitehead-to-announce-thursday/ @SNYtv @AVSNY”

James Barrett, Whitehead’s AAU coach and an assistant at Lincoln, said Wednesday’s visit will be key.

“It’s going to be important because it’s going to be kind of like his last impression of a school before he makes his decision,” Barrett said of St. John’s.

He added: “Coach [Steve] Lavin, he’s done pretty well at St. John’s since he’s been there, especially like his first year he had Moe Harkless, who was an NBA pro. St. John’s has had a rich history of guards out of New York City.”

St. John’s also offers the appeal of staying home in New York and playing at Madison Square Garden.

Asked if that appealed to Whitehead, Barrett said, “Oh yes, definitely, especially for his mom to be able to come to all the home games and playing in Madison Square Garden.”
