Isaiah Whitehead, SG (Seton Hall verbal)

Some may disagree, but I think it can only help the league if they get Whitehead. That will make SHU 1 more team that can start to push for a tourney berth and knock off some ranked teams. In our new league we need to get the reputation as the consensus deepest conference 1-10. I think it's possible. The ACC is very top heavy.

I don't think too many would disagree. Would like him to come here. But don't see it happening because he wants to start immediately.

Was reading bleacher rpts It showed the top 25 remaining players for 2014 and only one being IW lists us and the chance he comes here is real thin So yes to date disappointed in our going after 2014 players

Not saying the sky is falling. It is merely a factual statement to say as of today things have not been going our way for 14. Lavin has a great track record and I believe when all is said and done we will have a good class,

“@Isaiah_W15: Will Be Taking An Unofficial To St.Johns University This Week

@NYPost_Brazille: Hearing St. John's is trying to get back into the Isaiah Whitehead sweepstakes and Whitehead and Co. will listen. #stjbb #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: St. John's has reached out to Whitehead, they want him, source says, and there is intrigue. #sjubb

I heard the kid also reached out. Mom is very fond of the coaching staff.

Very interesting turn of events.

What will be interesting to see is which Midnight Madness IW elects to attend. Especially since it will be a few weeks before the early signing period deadline.

I'm scratching my head at all of this because I seriously thought we moved on for good. Especially on the guard front.

Strange. But par for the course because many of our recruitments have been just as strange over the past 2 years.

Why would Whitehead or any other recruit for that matter want to come to SJU? We stink. And there is the hottest school in the milkyway in South Orange, NJ.

I didn't think we would get back in the mix. A number of the schools he is looking at has landed players. The Kentucky offer I assumed he was waiting for never came. I guess that left the door open for us to get back involved.

We are crowded at the back court for next year. But he would have full reign for 15. Add in a couple of elite recruits for 15 and well be in good shape.

4 guard sets if he comes. And none of our guards are small or unathletic.

If Lavin can convince him that he'll be in the best possible position to win conference POY and get drafted, then we have as good a shot as any of those teams chasing him.

If he can convince him that surrounding him with talented Seniors will be better for him in the long haul, then just going out there by himself trying to carry a team or showcase himself as a freshman, then we'll be tough to turn down.

Getting in good with his mother won't hurt either. ;)

I knew we had moved on due to him wanting to start or log a ton of minutes as a frosh. We're gonna be loaded in the backcourt, so I'm not certain he's gonna get his wish. He'll probably still get some burn, nonetheless.

It can also be good to have mom on your side, as well. Like I've stated, she's fond of the staff and would prefer he stay close to home.

We'll see how this one plays out.
