Isaiah Whitehead, SG (Seton Hall verbal)

@Justin_Albers: 2014 G Isaiah Whitehead will visit Indiana, Minnesota and UCLA. Will visit IU first in early Sept. but no date yet. No Cuse visit. #iubb

Looks like Syracuse is no longer in the picture as many expected. And there are rumblings that Indiana might get a commitment from SG Robert Johnson this weekend which would most likely make the Whitehead recruitment wide open again.

Is that saying there will be no Cuse visit at all or just that no Cuse visit is lined up yet?
He has 2 remaining.

He's already taken 3 officials?

After Indiana, Minn & UCLA.

Thanks Johnnie1991. I'm sure IW will come out in the next day or so and proclaim that he hasn't eliminated any teams and he's wide open to all D-1 schools.

Yeah he has a history of going back and forth. I highly doubt he'll commit by November which is what he wanted

Btw we can also rule out Arizona because they have no more scholarships to offer

Can't rule out anyone. Even if they have no more ships. Dave feels that Zona will land him actually.

I'm pretty sure Zona would rather have Briscoe in 2015 - and they're the reported leaders for Briscoe

And Briscoe and Whitehead are AAU teammates for Playaz. So if anything it helps.

I can see why you'd say that but they also play the same position and Whitehead has made it pretty clear that getting playing time is one of his biggest priorities.

And Whitehead didn't mention visiting Arizona in this recent article.

They should have taken Whitehead to France. That would have gotten him outside of NYC.

As with most local star players you have to be in the game and hang around a long time in the recruiting battle and watch the dominoes fall as they just did with Syracuse appearing to be out of the running. I am sure Coach Lavin made a great impression with the family and now the team has to do well on the court to continue to raise our profile. If we can take the step on the court this season everything else will fall into place. As it currently stands we can't guarantee any recruit immediate pt next season as every starter could be back, with the exception of Sanchez if he starts, but there is still considerable depth to fill that position, case in point Sir Dom. In other words lets all remember Lavin has an uphill recruiting battle this year. Next year will be much easier with Dlo, Green, Sir Dom guaranteed to leave and much more pt available.

I really only feared Syracuse and Louisville in the Whitehead sweepstakes. The longer this goes, the better it will be for us. UCLA and Arizona are formidable competition, but both can be beaten out. A lot of times they take themselves out of recruiting battles by picking up another top talent at the same position.

If SJU stays relatively healthy, there is no way IMO they won't be ranked by December. They'll make some noise on the huge stage of national tv, MSG, NYC media, and the Big East.

Agree with everything you said. I think we'll get a ton of hype by mid-season and that should definitely help with our remaining 2014 targets (the ones who haven't signed yet) and I think our national exposure this upcoming season can help lure some 2015 targets to commit early

Newhttp://Scout.com rankings: Isaiah Whitehead No. 12, Chris McCullough No. 15, Terry Larrier No. 61

I believe Whitehead is highest ranked NY'er entering senior year since Lance Stephenson.

On recruiting front for Whitehead, told Georgetown and Pittsburgh trying to get involved, but not sure if they will be in picture.

For the St. John's fans, I've been told program hasn't been recruiting Whitehead much.

Then who is the coaching staff still recruiting?

@HooprecruiterNY: Isaiah Whitehead is still considering Syracuse

Conflicting reports

He could be but if Syracuse isn't interested theres is no longer mutual interest. ;)

I just saw from a Syracuse board that that's the case. Whitehead is still interested in them while they're ready to move on to their 2015 class.

Someday kids will learn that if another top prospect at your position is also considering your dream school, you'd better beat him to the punch.

“@NYPost_Brazille: Lincoln shooting guard Isaiah Whitehead will visit Indiana unofficially Sunday, I'm told. Will have more in recruiting column later. #iubb”

“@NYPost_Brazille: After Labor Day, Whitehead will set official visits plans to take all 5. Visit Sunday to #iubb is to get to know staff and check out school”

@TheRecruitScoop: Indiana will have 2014 G Robert Johnson, 2014 G Isaiah Whitehead, 2014 SG James Blackmon & 2015 SG Malachi Richardson on campus this weekend
