Is Obekpa Next? No! He's staying!

Some may not be happy about this, but I think he brings another dimension to the court, that we can't replicate elsewhere. This year, he got the ultimate respect. Some teams didn't even attempt to get the ball inside on us when he was in the game.

Unless they are going to shoot the ball like Robert Morris did against us, then Obekpa will always be a contributer. He's just gotta watch out for those fouls.

He needs to be paired up in the front court with someone who rebounds the ball (looking at Thomas). Asking a lot for a shotblocker to help weak side and snag boards at a high clip too.

His previous front court mates (Sampson and Sanchez) were allergic to rebounding.

Great news. Obekpa has been resurrected

Now lets lock down the Juco rebounder next week at the 4

Chris Obekpa's return drastically changes St. John's outlook for 14-15. Red Storm may very well have best starting 5 in Big East. #sjubb

I agree that Thomas would likely help Obekpa, big time. Hopefully, we can bring him into the fold sooner, rather than later.

Obekpa coming back is great news for St. John's. He has a specific skill set that would've been impossible for the coaching staff to replace.

Hopefully, they can convince Keith Thomas to commit next week. His rebounding and skills on the defensive end would really set the team up for a successful season.

Welcome back Chris. Looking forward to seeing oblockpa back defending the lane again net season. Focus on some offensive moves this summer! Glad you had a change of heart

I, too, am happy about this.

However, it does not alleviate the urgency of getting at least another two serviceable forwards. Remember, Gift, Sanchez and Borgault's graduation took Lavin by surprise.

Give me Keith Thomas and/or Josh Cunningham and I will be very happy with this offseason. If that happens, may I call this spring a success?

(Possible) Additions:
Adonis DeLaRosa
Keith Thomas
Josh Cunningham

Losses:
Jakarr Sampson
Max Hooper
Sanchez
Gift
Marco

(Possible) Starting Lineup:
PG - Sheed
SG - D'Lo
SF - Cunningham
PF - Keith Thomas
C - CO

Bench:
PG - Branch
SF - Pointer
C - ADR
PF - CJ
SG - Felix
SG - PGIV

That seems like a very strong lineup to me. Gives much more room for our guards to work and more rebounding. I like it a lot.

Guys, don't mention Cunningham, there's no chance

If he's visiting this weekend then there has to be at least a slight chance. Say what you want about Lavin but there haven't been many guys who have visited and then went elsewhere under him.

Don't we also have to allow for Joey Delarosa? I like the WCC forward a lot, especially with Obekpa back, but that doesn't leave a lot offense from the front court. If we can't get Cunningham, Mason as a fifth year would be a nice add.

Mods maybe you should change title of thread to "Obekpa is Back!"? Or something along those lines.
