Is Obekpa Next? No! He's staying!

It has been almost a year since Rysheed picked us. A moment I really saw as a breakthrough because we only had one scholarship to give and we got the highest rated kid the program had gotten in a decade.

If you had told me on that day to map out the worst possible scenario for the program over the course of the next 12 months - and to really get pessimistically imaginitve with it - it wouldn't have scratched the surface of where we are today.

Seriously, with the exception of the excitement around the Euro-trip and a month of great basketball between mid-January and mid-February, this has been a hapless mess of inconsistency (on the court and off).

Something is going on here and I'd be surprised if it's straightforward.

Appreciate your level headed on point posts.

And I yours (and your newest avatar!).

Unfortunately, after this, I feel our greatest area of exposure (or perhaps our only area of exposure left!) is with Rysheed, and that we could come full circle with him in only a year.

Harrison, Pointer, Greene, and Branch are seniors. Jones and Balamou, whatever will be will be.

Jordan is a kid with a potentially very bright future. With whatever is going on, an objective viewer would probably be forced to question whether this is the best place for him to get there. If an objective viewer is going to question that, you can only imagine what may be whispered in this young man's ear.

I certainly hope he is here, obviously. But when the guy tweeting all this info (who hasn't missed on much) says 2 more could transfer, is there a more likely candidate besides possibly Balamou?

This @JayOn_1 guy has now explicitly identified Greene and Jordan as the potential candidates. Aren't they all room-mates? In any event, he may not be correct--but your rationale makes sense.

When Joe3 loses access to redmen.com, he gets bored. When he gets bored, he looks for friends. When he looks for friends, he stalks SJU basketball team. When he stalks SJU basketball team, he takes uncomfortable looking selfies with them. When he takes uncomfortable looking selfies, they want to transfer. When they transfer, we win 10 games.

Don’t let us win 10 games, give back Joe3 access! %-)

JayOn_1 has been on target during this sh!tstorm of bad news. Odds are he's probably right about Jordan and Greene. Also, anyone remember that cryptic tweet from Jordan several weeks ago saying how he was going to miss "these guys" with a picture of Sampson, Sanchez and others? I wonder if he knew then what we are learning now?

Although, Greene (who we need now more than ever) transferring would at least provide much needed comedic relief (for so many reasons).

Greene and Obekpa in the same day? That was our starting power forward and center :)

Hearing now that Greene and Jordan are close to transferring as well. Monasch and Lavin must go.

i heard harrison and greene.
i hope neither one of us is right.

Hit, every player who has left or is rumored to be leaving have either been part of the problem or just not as talented as we were led to believe. Had the wizard and Tony Chiles busted their humps recruitng this year or even made half ass offers to JC players this depleted roster would not look like a repeat of the remaining team after the Pittsburgh hooker scandal. That upperclassmen are leaving their coach says one thing, and one thing only, the coach is next.

Lol. This is all too much.

The upside may be that we may not have a lot of shot-makers left, and with Dom at center there will be plenty of offensive rebounding opportunities for him!

Someone HAS to be held accountable for this!!!

It's just truely amazing the turn of events from when Lou retired. Is this really happening? Its a rhetorical question, thank you!

I was switching my spare time to watching the Mets. The Mets are looking a whole lot better after hearing what is happening at St John's.

There's no way to spin this. He was due for unlimited playing time next year, so the fact that he's transferring is a direct indication that he didn't get along with the staff. Now, you can blame the coach or the player, but I'm blaming the coach, he brought the player in.

Lavin seems to have brought in a lot of players that he can't relate to, communicate with, coach to their full potential or motivate. So even if singularly some of these may be on individual players as a whole that's on the staff.

Can we please stop spreading rumors that Greene and Jordan are leaving? Until they actually announce it, these are nothing more than rumors. I'll believe when, and if, it officially happens.

Obekpa and Sampson leaving were just rumors too. At Least there were no Hooper rumors.

Yes, and those rumors stopped being rumors when they both announced their intentions. Greene and Jordan haven't said anything and until they do, it's disingenuous to spread rumors or chats about them leaving.

Jordan will not leave, if he does he is crazy.
The nba is all he cares about.

He will probably average 25 a game next year, and with this McDonald's AA game being the weakest I've watched in years, he is a guaranteed lottery pick with his size and skill. We will win 10-12 games next year, but RJ will enjoy every minute of it scoring 25 a night and locking himself in as a first round pick.

Greene is someone I could see leaving. It is important to note that obekpa was his roommate and his best friend on the team, and his girlfriend transferred from St. John's earlier this year as well, so it seems like he might be on his way to following suit. Of the two being rumored, I could definitely see Greene leaving but RJ going would flat out shock me.
