Ian Steere Visiting SJU
Definitely not a rebuild if Heron, Ponds and obviously Clark leave and things fall into place. Not as bleak as some on here make it seem after this year.

Simon
Dixon
Mack*
Wright
Williams
Trimble

LJ
Achiuwa*
Caraher
Earlington

Reese*
Keita
Roberts
Remind me. ....who is Reese?
How would your imaginary roster look without Precious and Simon?
We better hope Steere and Mack materialize.

Jeez! We're only two games into the season and already we're plotting out possible (and totally speculative) rosters for next year. (And I thought I was bad.)

Not sure who Reese is and that is a huge leap assuming Precious is added. Take him out and that is a very mediocre team next year. Keep this in mind SJU is not a top 25 team. You are way over rating sone of these transfers

Lol... Meant Steere...idk why I put Reese.. I don't agree that the team would be mediocre. I just feel that it will be a decent and well balanced team if things fall into place. If we have a successful year, I don't see Simon transferring his senior year, when this would basically be his team.. idk..I like to try to look at things from a more hopefully and positive perspective. Maybe when I'm older like some of you I'll be more miserable and negative.

Ahh, when I think decent, I think a winning record with a tournament shot. When I think mediocre, I think .500 team.

So you think we who are obviously much wiser than you have a FML attitude?
All I know is that in the past 17 years we have been to just THREE NCAA tournaments.
Two of those three appearances were under the coach we fired so Chris Mullin could restore St. John's to glory.
This is the St. John's we have grown old to. If the past is truly prologue then it would also be feasible that we underperform as usual. Chris Mullin is asked to step aside. We lose out on every major recruit. Half the team transfers.
We remain positive because we are fans who root for our team, win or lose. Yeah, sure.

Yeah.... Sorry, raw. I see that as an average roster (particularly, without Achiuwa). That roster doesn't do much for me. And, I'm far from being miserable and negative.

You're still young my dude ;-)
Im just saying, I don't see a rebuild and if (big if) we get Precious, I think it will be a nice little year

I supported Lav until the end. I'll support Chris until the end. Bottom line is win or lose its just a game. Doesn't have an real affect on my life. Obviously it's nice when they win. I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't. However, I think so far under Mullin the team has gotten better and this year looks to be the best so far. IDK.. I've just always looked at sports as entertainment and have never really let it get to me too much emotionally. My brother on the other hand, that boy will break a TV if he gets pissed enough over a game.

Cmon man, you're not doing it right unless you're complaining daily with the rest of the grumpy old men on this site, led by the ringleader 72.

Brooks was injured slowing his acclimation and is working his way back into the rotation. That said his rebounding numbers suck so far. Would have fit right in.

And while I'm happy to see Steere transfer in, this guy could only get 5 minutes from Keatts in a 50 point win in his one game. He's also practicing against Sasha Killeya Jones from Kentucky who will be active next year so he likely saw the writing on the wall. Again, expecting too much from him already is dangerous, especially for STJ fans.
Yep, there's a reason why he's a 3star.
Not necessarily, these ratings services are not the greatest at rating players. Example-Bama DT Quinnen Williams was a 3 star and is only a redshirt soph who barely played last season and now Mel Kiper has him projected #2 overall draft pick in the upcoming draft. That said it is an impossible job sometimes to project a player on the next level from HS to college and college to pro. Look at all the so called draft busts vs great low draft or undrafted players. This kid looks good to me and at worst is a big physical presence that every team can use.
Great point. Let's not forget that Stephen Curry wasn't highly rated either coming into college.

Get off my lawn squirt! And, back to that Room 112 in your asylum. And, who are you calling me grumpy and old? I'll have you know Jack Williams and I are in the same astrophysics class and I was dating a cheerleader until she got pregger!
I am a very big Chris Mullin fan and have a poster of the Dream Team in my room right above his bobble head.
Now excuse me as I am typing this in the diner on Parsons Boulevard and need to send this freaking cold soup back!;)

72, Room et al.
We all need to keep a sense of humor and add a little levity
Anyway “ old” is all relative - some of us who remember West Point Grad Dwight Eisenhower in the White House have great, youthful, energetic attitudes
So there!!!
lol
Hope we beat Rutgers but I hope even more we get better as s team as 2018-19 progresses

While true Ponds will be gone and chance of Simon leaving but why is Heron def gone.
Don't see him as getting drafted this year. But w/o Ponds next year he would be clear cut best player and maybe move up his stock. Seems like it should at least be a thought staying one more year.

I hate to pull a Marillac here with a prediction but Heron will have a better NBA career than Ponds and likely would get picked before him.

IMO Heron will prove to be better than Ponds and has a better chance of getting drafted.

Agree. Heron’s size, physicality & commitment to defend supports that view. Btw, Heron declared for NBA last year. He won’t be back is common view.
