How about this?

Pitino coaches the next 5 years, SJU goes to a Final Four and wins a couple of BE Championships. Right about then Danny's run with the Lakers is blowing up and he decides to come back to college and gets the SJU job....

Everyone is happy!!! LOL
Judging his personality, the NBA history of coaches and the Lakers as well if he goes to the NBA he will be back in college in 3 years.

If I'm Hurley I go. Coaching LeBron and AD is something you'll talk about forever and have a chance to win the ultimate coaching goal.

If it doesn't workout he'll get a Blue Blood coaching position. UConn may not be on the same level as others in the NIL landscape in a couple of years.

Take the Money Danny!

3 factors 1. pissed that Geno got a big raise (will Lamont pay him) 2. NIL new landscape ( easier to get screamed out by players being paid from organization rather than a kid getting stiffed by Colony Pizza for 5k advertisement 3. Lakers are top franchise but not corporate it’s Jeannie’s team chance to be new face of the organization your best players are from Europe now and Lebron is gone 2 yrs from now.

What NIL crap is Uconn dealing with? They get the exact type of kids they want. Their roster is loaded. They are feasting in this NIL world.
it's not sustainable.

but putting that aside, an nba coach acts more as a ceo. college coaches need be fundraisers, guardians, teachers, etc, etc. compared to the nba, it's not a cushy job.

imo he's gone -- and good for him.

Again, I have known Danny since his Hall days and have no idea what his mind set would be on this. Nothing left as a challenge at UConn? Looking to leverage with UConn, they just gave Auriemma 5 more years? Etc., etc., etc.
Now that it is out there I would expect a relatively quick resolution

Kentucky may be the college job with the most pressure, and the money would not be worth it because you are still dealing with NIL.

Also, take into account whatever Kentucky would offer, is not even in the same stratosphere as what the Lakers could offer.

Hurley could build generational wealth and he also may see the NBA as his next coaching step, since he is a hot commodity.
Really hoping he goes to the Lakers, then don't have to watch the guy whining and crying like a little girl on the sidelines when we're playing uconn.

Make it happen Lakers, please!!!
