Hurley does not strike me as the type who'd have any ability to coddle and pamper the modern day NBA player.
i agree his temperament in the NBA not sure if thats gonna work he already went after fans this year NBA fans who pay even bigger money to watch a game especially LAKERS are gonna be worse

Which is a tougher job NBA or NCAA head coach?

True. But this is a roster he’s help build and a place he’s helped win big. If a head college job is what he wants, a better college opportunity would be hard to come by. I’m sure Hurley would want him. And I’m not sure uconn would turn to the assistants. But my point is uconn has these two guys that everyone is so surprised they’ve been able to hold on to, to turn to in a late game situation like this would be.

Can you think of a power conference coach that would make sense to bolt to UConn this late? Of course they would pay, but others do too and rosters are mostly set.
Think about it from this lens though. Murray is 39 years old. He may think LBJ is the greatest of all time. Literally grew up watching him. You think he'd pass up being on a staff with him on the roster?

I think there’s plenty of guys who would rather be a head coach of a power program than an assistant in the NBA

My 2 cents for whatever it's worth( usually not much)
I've known Dan almost his whole life. Some of his struggles are well documented and he's been very open about them. The move to the league is appealing bc the all encompassing intensity of the college game with its importance and his hands on detailis are both triggering and wearing on his well being. My guess is he jumps and for his sake i really hope he does, but i really don't know. As for his kids i do work with one who this morning told me he would 100% explore other options and im certain he's not alone

Somehow Thibs is keeping true to his hard work, old fashion ways, and not only is it working here, there are far more players who love him than not. I think Hurley is smart enough to read the room and adapt as necessary. Besides, as others have pointed out too, this is not even a possibility unless LeBron is on board.

There's no question that Hurley is smart enough and also no question that he has the coaching ability. The question is whether his temperament would allow him to make the transition. Some folks who are driven in the way that he is are able to make the adjustment with age and maturity. And some are not. I would guess that he is more likely to fall into the "not" camp and if that is the case it will not go well for him in the NBA where load management, mailing it in for a game here and there, and secondary factors are part of the equation.

Goodman throwing out Bruce Pearl on the field of 68 as a guy uconn should target if it were come to pass.

I cant believe people are actually falling for this. Hurley has 0 interest in the Laker job like he had 0 interest in the Kentucky job. This is clickbait and something for the networks to talk about. Hurley would have taken the Laker job weeks ago if he was going to do this.

Like Calhoun and Geno, He will be a Uconn for a very log time.

Thibs doesn’t exactly coddle his players and he’s done fine. Lebron would be fine with Hurley if they win and gets him another ring.

As a SJU fan the game was gone a long time ago considering the complete ineptitude of the hires and the overall state of the program since Looie retired.
If looking at it SJU centric, I get it, but obviously we were talking CBB overall.

Yeah. Hard to believe how someone would have interest in one of the premier coaching positions in all professional sports.

That is one looney tune of a post
