Now that it’s officially the offseason, the snarky, no posts of any substance, guinness is back, baby. Get ready for nothing of intelligence but plenty of spunk!
I hate the Arkansas game threadI hate this thread
But you should come here to get some good news. The other thread is depressing.I hate this thread
Islanders, Jets, Mets, Tottenham and our Johnnies. It’s a good thing I don’t own a gun, amirite?I hate Sports !
Good news? MJM still likes IPAs.But you should come here to get some good news. The other thread is depressing.
There's always Bayern. who still might figure out a way to lose the Bundesliga title with a 6 pt. cushion.Islanders, Jets, Mets, Tottenham and our Johnnies. It’s a good thing I don’t own a gun, amirite?
Cherry on top yesterday was watching the Isles take the lead with less than 3 minutes left to maybe take the edge off from being numb from our loss, only to watch them give up a goal 30 seconds later and then lose in OT. My sports life summed up perfectly.
You should know by now Bayern is my 2nd footie team although nowhere near my Spurs fanaticism. Kinda-sorta keep up with Celtic too. It feels dirty, to me, to root for successful clubs/franchisesThere's always Bayern. who still might figure out a way to lose the Bundesliga title with a 6 pt. cushion.![]()
They are who they are. Spaniards and any Central/South Americans are worse. You should know by now Bayern is my 2nd footie team although nowhere near my Spurs fanaticism. Kinda-sorta keep up with Celtic too. It feels dirty, to me, to root for successful clubs/franchises
Also, how about that Germany-Italy match. Just watched it this morning, what a game from Kimmich. Italian players some dirty, whiny bastards though, Jesus.
“…dirty, whiny bastards…” I thought you were talking about “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and “Inglorious Basterds” had a baby movie together. You should know by now Bayern is my 2nd footie team although nowhere near my Spurs fanaticism. I can take the “dirty” play, what I can’t take is the 15 rolls after a “foul,” the“…dirty, whiny bastards…” I thought you were talking about “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and “Inglorious Basterds” had a baby movie together.
Until I realized the over top commentary on the Italian team. It is not as if Germany has shied away from physical play, and never been called dirty.
Whiny, I admit, yes. It bit them in the ass as they were too busy arguing to notice a corner was taken.
But carry on…
People who do not like soccer and want to criticize it, have always reverted to the players falling down like they were shot. It has always been an issue that was hardly a breakthrough on Sunday.I can take the “dirty” play, what I can’t take is the 15 rolls after a “foul,” thein everyone’s face after every play, acting like they are literally dying and then jumping and immediately joining the play and the constant chirping to the refs and the assistants. It’s the crap like that that keeps the casuals away from the game. Maybe if they weren’t playing dead the whole game that pen would have been given and the play you mentioned also would have never happened.
When did I say the hand gesture thing is new?People who do not like soccer and want to criticize it, have always reverted to the players falling down like they were shot. It has always been an issue that was hardly a breakthrough on Sunday.
Yes it is dumb and I hate it too. But it will never go away. It has only gotten worse.
And the hand gesture you pointed out is not something new. I do that too sometimes. Tommy DeVito did not invent it. He bastardized it.
I get it. It’s infuriating. Makes the game unwatchable for periods of time. When did I say the hand gesture thing is new?
Watch the match if you can, and tell me which team is acting which way. And, I had no commentary, I watched the match on mute, so I don’t know where all this is coming from. And, lastly, the Italians are not the only country who play this way, guess I should point that out too. Neymar is infamous for faking injuries. If the refs don’t call simulation, then the crap continues. As flawed as I find VAR, at least it can go back and look at some of the BS.
Nathalie just found your address on google. RIP Section9They are who they are. Spaniards and any Central/South Americans are worse.![]()
The one thing I would absolutely love to see is something they do rarely. If they go to VAR and the player who drew the foul/penalty clearly dove, they should get a yellow card automatically. They give basically automatic yellows for pulling on a shirt, so why not for that?I get it. It’s infuriating. Makes the game unwatchable for periods of time.
But the toothpaste is out of the tube. I have no idea how you reel it back in. Referees are can give yellows for diving and feigning injury, but how often does that happen?
Maybe they are concerned if they start giving out yellows, all the players will accumulate two and no one will be left on the field.![]()
That works. But the referees must use it consistently even when they are in a country like Mexico which much has some fans who throw bottles, and bags of feces and urine. The one thing I would absolutely love to see is something they do rarely. Drawing fouls is a a strategic part of the game. I’m, lol obviously, not a fan, but consistent cards and a set rule would put a big dent in it imho.
