Good TV watching weekend. Watched original Coming to America for first time in 30 years this afternoon (such a great movie) and we will watch Coming to America 2 in a little while followed by lots of bball tomorrow hopefully culminating with our Johnnies beating the Hall tomorrow night.

The books The Last Kingdom is based on are exciting reads. Uthred is one tough bastard. I have read them all. Bernard Cornwell writes great historical fiction. He is quite prolific in his writing with this series at 12 novels, the Sharpe series, the Grail Quest. I have virtually everything he has written. I am sure Bamonte's has hosted a few real mob guys over the years given its location and all.
Last, the New York connections and even connections to St. John's, as I believe one of David Chase's co-writers/show runners was a St. John's graduate, and later seasons had an actor that graduated from SJU. Maybe others, I don't know for sure (Monte?)
In some ways I like it more that Godfather I and II and Goodfellas because David Chase had so much more time to develop themes and story arcs.
I was one of the few people not mad about the final episode, final scene.

Last time I went to Bamonte's well pre-pandemic, the hostess and I got talking and on the wall (maybe behind the bar) there is a family portrait, mom, dad, a few children maybe a dog, oil painting, and so I am looking and sure enough the little girl in the painting was our hostess.
She got a big kick when I told her i recognized her from the painting and that she looked exactly the same, only a little bit older......(Like 50 years).

Pretty sure there is a DJ's in Wantagh on Sunrise Hwy around the corner from Mulcahy's. Never went, just drive by when staying at my in-laws.
