If just 2 people take the train from Huntington to MSG off peak that’s like $52. I’m the one usually complaining about everything non MSG and I don’t mind going to UBS now at all. If money is an issue drive to Mineola pay the $6 for parking and hop on a train that’s maybe 10 minutes. Or just start up a redfan carpool. That would be pretty interesting :)
It's different paying $50 to go to MSG vs UBS. MSG is the Mecca, it's Manhattan, it's tons of restaurants, bars, shopping, whatever you want, right there in front of you. UBS is Elmont...are there even any restaurants within walking distance?

I totally hear what you are saying but for me personally when I go to MSG it’s Tir Na Nog for a beer or maybe Stout. Keep in mind I’m 53 not 33 anymore. I just wanna get home after the game

So it's not really about the money at all since your in town entertainment is going to cost you another $50-100 per person or more rather than just enjoying the game and looking at it in isolation. I guess since I worked in the city when I was an MSG season tix holder I might or might not have a beer at a local pregame but didn't look at STJ games as my night out for anything but the game. And I was 25-35 at the time, but was probably out in the city 3 other nights that week. :ROFLMAO:

I’ve been friends with you for over 20 years just ad it you are an old bastard. I admit it. It helps with Redmen therapy

So for UBS our 114 crew is scattered through 118. If you are sitting near us let me know

Felt like we've had way too many gaps between games this season.
I've noticed the same. Was thinking that was probably because of the Charleston tournament where we had 3 games in 4 days. So they had to include gaps elsewhere

Cure your boredom and wait for Hofstra with part 3 of Coachcast with St. John's Assistant Coach Bob Walsh. We go in-depth on the match-up zone defense, lessons learned from the Xavier win and UConn loss, Joel Soriano not getting the ball more in UConn, Jenkins' shooting woes, Wilcher and Dunlap's struggles, a year end assessment, previewing the Hofstra matchup on Saturday and so much more.

I dont think you can find too many places close enough with space big enough to make it worthwhile for more than a few dozen cars.

I passed by UBS last night on Hemp Take on way back from Donovan's Pub in Woodside (absolutely great burger btw) taking my dad back to his house in Franklin Square.

Just happened to be at end of Islander game going on. I saw that quite a few groups of fans were doing the Uber thing as I saw then getting into cars pulling up by gas station and Dunkin Donuts and just on Turnpike
Charlie from Donovan’s (back in the day) was one of my regulars on the bar car. Brought me a burger once or twice, great guy.

So pretty much what I heard when Dave brought up the point about fans questioning things about taking too many shots etc, I know he was referring to this Marillac guy can’t stand when Jenkins keeps taking all these shots with his shooting percentage in the 20’s vs Soriano getting more shots. That is what I heard anyway. Lol.

Flying Dutchmen? Lol been The Pride since 2001. Great interview though.

Long waits after tough losses always suck.
Long wait after the BC loss. now a long wait after the UConn.

Both of those wins would have helped our resume alot, instead we lose both, crushing to me.
I'm just being quiet lately.

You can spend $100 and feel like you got your money's worth, or you can spend $50 and feel like you got ripped off.

We live in a crazy world, no doubt, and getting crazier by the minute.

Flying Dutchmen is such a colorful team name. Had to check if there was a historical reference. There is :

With the word "Pride" being co-opted by the lgtbq+ movement to almost singularly being identified with it, will we get to a point that the movement will have a problem being objectified by the team name "Pride" or will protest that the "Pride" has no transgender athletes so should cede that name.

Maybe the Red Storm should change our name to Flying Dutchmen. Makes sense. We are haunted by the mythological ghosts who never led us to championships.

All in fun. Let'snot get pissy.
.

Spending is so damned subjective. A movie ticket costs almost $20 (remember the movies? Who goes anymore) i refuse to pay $25 for a restaurant appetizer and refrain from $20 mixed drinks, but my kids don't.

To me, and more correctly for me, a ticket to our games is a huge bargain. Every game has been fun, even getting stunned by Pace. Where else can I go, and literally see 100 or more people I know? Or go to the baseball HOF, tap a guy on the shoulder with an SJU cap, meet him again in Charleston, have breakfast in Florida, and is now a friend.

Even more than that, there is a reality when at games or around town, literally anywhere in the world. Find someone wesring sju gear and you will instantly be treated as a friend. That to me, is priceless.

Going to UBS for me is barely a step above campus.
my wife comes to all games with me. She loves MSG games because she loves NYC.
we always take LIRR, make a full NYC day of it incl out to lunch and or dinner.

Fifth Ave - Elmont = same difference :)

Well, I'll be holding my nose and paying for parking there tomorrow. Does anyone have any experience parking there? Is the Belmont Garage the way to go?
