I agree with this completely. If we are any bit the team that played against Xavier and UConn we should win easily.

It's different paying $50 to go to MSG vs UBS. MSG is the Mecca, it's Manhattan, it's tons of restaurants, bars, shopping, whatever you want, right there in front of you. UBS is Elmont...are there even any restaurants within walking distance? If just 2 people take the train from Huntington to MSG off peak that’s like $52. I’m the one usually complaining about everything non MSG and I don’t mind going to UBS now at all. If money is an issue drive to Mineola pay the $6 for parking and hop on a train that’s maybe 10 minutes. Or just start up a redfan carpool. That would be pretty interesting
I totally hear what you are saying but for me personally when I go to MSG it’s Tir Na Nog for a beer or maybe Stout. Keep in mind I’m 53 not 33 anymore. I just wanna get home after the gameIt's different paying $50 to go to MSG vs UBS. I’ve been friends with you for over 20 years just ad it you are an old bastard. I admit it. It helps with Redmen therapySo it's not really about the money at all since your in town entertainment is going to cost you another $50-100 per person or more rather than just enjoying the game and looking at it in isolation. I guess since I worked in the city when I was an MSG season tix holder I might or might not have a beer at a local pregame but didn't look at STJ games as my night out for anything but the game. And I was 25-35 at the time, but was probably out in the city 3 other nights that week.

I've noticed the same. Was thinking that was probably because of the Charleston tournament where we had 3 games in 4 days. So they had to include gaps elsewhereFelt like we've had way too many gaps between games this season.
Charlie from Donovan’s (back in the day) was one of my regulars on the bar car. Brought me a burger once or twice, great guy.I dont think you can find too many places close enough with space big enough to make it worthwhile for more than a few dozen cars.
I passed by UBS last night on Hemp Take on way back from Donovan's Pub in Woodside (absolutely great burger btw) taking my dad back to his house in Franklin Square.
Just happened to be at end of Islander game going on. I saw that quite a few groups of fans were doing the Uber thing as I saw then getting into cars pulling up by gas station and Dunkin Donuts and just on Turnpike
Cure your boredom and wait for Hofstra with part 3 of Coachcast with St. John's Assistant Coach Bob Walsh. We go in-depth on the match-up zone defense, lessons learned from the Xavier win and UConn loss, Joel Soriano not getting the ball more in UConn, Jenkins' shooting woes, Wilcher and Dunlap's struggles, a year end assessment, previewing the Hofstra matchup on Saturday and so much more.

Long waits after tough losses always suck.Felt like we've had way too many gaps between games this season.
my old sports broadcasting professor at St. John's, Marc Ernay, who works for 1010 WINS, is a Hofstra guy and always called them that and it just always stuck with me, also a cool name lolFlying Dutchmen? Lol been The Pride since 2001. Great interview though.
You can spend $100 and feel like you got your money's worth, or you can spend $50 and feel like you got ripped off.So it's not really about the money at all since your in town entertainment is going to cost you another $50-100 per person or more rather than just enjoying the game and looking at it in isolation. We live in a crazy world, no doubt, and getting crazier by the minute.Flying Dutchmen? Lol been The Pride since 2001. Great interview though.
Spending is so damned subjective. A movie ticket costs almost $20 (remember the movies? Who goes anymore) i refuse to pay $25 for a restaurant appetizer and refrain from $20 mixed drinks, but my kids don't.You can spend $100 and feel like you got your money's worth, or you can spend $50 and feel like you got ripped off.
Going to UBS for me is barely a step above campus. It's different paying $50 to go to MSG vs UBS. MSG is the Mecca, it's Manhattan, it's tons of restaurants, bars, shopping, whatever you want, right there in front of you. UBS is Elmont...are there even any restaurants within walking distance?
Fifth Ave - Elmont = same differenceGoing to UBS for me is barely a step above campus.
my wife comes to all games with me. She loves MSG games because she loves NYC.
we always take LIRR, make a full NYC day of it incl out to lunch and or dinner.
