Head Coaching Changes

Was at NYU during Hairston/Kramer era.  D3 only makes me depressed.
Great era in NYC College basketball--the doubleheaders at the "old Garden"--getting in for 50 cents with HS "GO" card.  Loved it and they were a dynamic duo!
Manhattan-Fordham and NYU-St. John's double header with student bodies marching in to the Garden en masse from different subway stations.  NYU students were taught to admire Lapchick even then.  Literally stood above every other coach.

And the rest of the ACC cheers. If you’re the best job in the country, I think you go hire a guy who’s been a head coach before.

Per Jeff Goodman, Hubert Davis was Roy Williams' choice
UNC typically keeps it in the family when hiring a men's head bb coach
Not surprised to see an alum (and current assistant) get the job
But I agree they should be able to attract a highly successful and well experienced head coach for this coveted job

Two head coaching changes apparently about to happen

1. Ryan Odom leaving UMBC to go to Utah State

2. Tim Miles, former Nebraska coach, getting the San Jose State job

Well this is what he left broadcasting for.  I liked him as a player and broadcaster.  I wish him luck.

Wow! 29 years old and a head coach in Division 1. Good for Valentine. Brother of former Michigan State star Darnell V. and former solid college player for Oakland.

Always liked Hubert and thought he'd be a good coach one day and happy to see good things happen to ex-Knicks for sure.
Having said that, tough job for someone who has no DIV 1 experience. High risk for sure, but rooting for him.

Barry Kramer was incredible in his junior year . Could jump thru the roof !!            Saw Kramer , Mark Reiner, Happy Hairston  play in the Holiday  Festival  in the old MSG at 50 th Street and 8 th Avenue . NY U always had  good teams .  Shame they dropped BB in the 60’s .

Surprising they are staying in house with an older hire.
Sounds like whatever players are left pushed for him.

I loved Speedy as a player but this is not a hire Hofstra needed to make - they may well have been better off with Farrelly.

Apparently the new rule is you have to hire a former player or a current assistant coach, seems like.  SJU has seen both of those movies and neither has gone so well.

I heard local high school coaches were ready to revolt if Speedy wasn't named coach.
