Hardship Waivers
Per Rothstein: La Salle's David Beatty just received an NCAA hardship waiver to play this season. He was a transfer from South Carolina.

Hopefully, we get the good news very soon!!
Saw the Rothstein tweet. Beatty committed to LaSalle in May, and Mustapha committed to St. John's on May 31.
But I could not find any mention that Beatty filed a hardship waiver--although he .must have' if Rothstein is correct.
Strange.
Bottom Line: Mustapha should 'hear' very soon, officially.

Does anyone here know how this process works? The feeling I get from the athletic department is that there hasn't been a dialogue, such as request for more medical data, interviews, home visits, etc. It appears that it has just been sit and wait (in the dark) I don't know that for certain, but that's how it appears.

Given that, while it's reasonable to think that the NCAA processes these requests sequentially, they certainly could be notifying approved waivers first. Also with official practices beginning, the NCAA should be geared up to approve or deny requests now.

Just reasonable presumptions, no inside information whatsoever.

From past experience I believe that ST John's puts in the request and based off of a little common sense and a lot of blind hope figures said waiver should be granted. Someone on here with some sort of "in" with someone on the staff (Matt A) gleefully reports that it is a "shoe in". Then this drags out much longer than should rightfully be expected. This is then followed by the other shoe dropping and said player being ruled ineligible.Righteous indignation, anger, sadness and then finally resignation are the final steps in this process.

“He should have a decision this week,” one source close to Heron said Saturday. “It’s the NCAA so you just don’t know.”
A second source close to the situation added, “The NCAA has been very helpful. The T’s are being crossed and the I’s are being dotted despite what WASJU says”

Seems to be looking pretty good, despite some Cassandra’s in the House. Also seems to be a very legitimate need th NCAA could satisfy to help the Herons and a poster quality college athlete in the game, in class, and in life.

Actually, Cassandra's prediction did come to pass. Hoping the gods favor us in this instance.

Oops, you’re right , Las Vegan!
Okay, I replace Cassandra with ‘Chicken Little’ who may also be ‘right’ on a delayed replay.
How about using ‘Pessimistic Annies’?
Hope ‘she’s’ not right also.
Lol.

Only thing it means is my half-assed 10/1 guess was wrong. All signs still point to a positive outcome.

I made my last payment on my season tickets today. Would have been a nice day to get resolution.

I’m usually the one looking for every dark cloud in our program. With all these other kids being granted waivers I literally have Zero concern. I worry more about the Bronx Pake Ale line getting longer after Heron gets approved and we start wrecking some big east schools this year at MSG. All 4 of them

These waiver grants have not been purely sequential, but all have been earlier requests than Mustapha’s.
The Hoop Gods are on our side with this one, for once...I hope!
Should be imminent.

If MH is cleared it would be very interesting to see the number of season ticket holders from last yr vs. this yr. May see a huge increase.

Every day that passes at this point is 1 day closer to Mustapha being declared eligible to play for SJU. Relax on this one Mike.

Wonder if there's any talk of Omer Yurtseven (Georgetown) getting a waiver. Doubt he submitted a hardship, but with how many transfers the NCAA is permitting it's possible. Would be a huge boost for them and the conference.

Does he meet hardship requirements with parents or a wife or a kid...?
Far as I know, he’s a Euro stud from Turkey who transferred from NC State.
Maybe I’m missing something?
