Hardship Waivers

Wonder if there's any talk of Omer Yurtseven (Georgetown) getting a waiver. Doubt he submitted a hardship, but with how many transfers the NCAA is permitting it's possible. Would be a huge boost for them and the conference.
Nothing that's a boost for gtown is any good as far as I'm concerned.B) :)
Hah, I know your reply is partially tongue in cheek, but I think a strong Georgetown is in SJU's best interests. As far as teams like UConn and Cuse go, I root against them 100% of the time.

Does he meet hardship requirements with parents or a wife or a kid...?
Far as I know, he’s a Euro stud from Turkey who transferred from NC State.
Maybe I’m missing something?
I found this:

Seems possible but unlikely.

Very interesting article - thanks for posting.

Very interesting aspect of his transfer that I was totally unaware of. Thanks.
The article doesn’t comment that Yurtseven applied for a hardship waiver due to fear of Islamaphobia or hate crimes though.
Seems like he should’ve.
I’m usually the one looking for every dark cloud in our program. With all these other kids being granted waivers I literally have Zero concern. I worry more about the Bronx Pake Ale line getting longer after Heron gets approved and we start wrecking some big east schools this year at MSG. All 4 of them
Again to be clear I don't trust the NCAA. After watching Ballers on Sunday either does the The Rock. I also don't believe in Big Foot, The Loch Ness monster or ST John's basketball program catching a break.
And just to throw some more cold water on this, people are aware that ST John's is not exactly around the corner from his mom's house right? One hour and 35 minutes per map quest. In fairness much closer than Alabama but not as close as any of the many Connecticut schools of higher learning he could have chosen to attend.

Hope I am wrong and only half serious but I guess unlike most of you, I would totally not be shocked if he is declared ineligible this year.

If bad things are said about Fayetteville, does it infer bad things about Durham and Chapel Hill, which the NCAA would immediately recognize as untrue?

Gawd, ‘sju’, you’re making half the Board—or at least me—nervous. Lol.
UCONN was closer by 18 minutes: West haven-stores vs West haven -Jamaica Queens. NYC.
Immaterial.
He gets the waiver.

There's no stipulation that it needs to be the closest school though. Only that it's within a certain distance, which St. John's is.

Not geared toward you LJSA but.......
The really, really amazing thing is most come on here to bitch and moan constantly about the greatest player the program has ever had.
People have no faith in Chris Mullin to turn things around yet these very same people have absolute blind faith that the most crooked organization on the planet will do the "right thing".
Can't make these things up

So what does the NCAA have only one person looking at all the cases. Seems like all the facts are pretty much there for them to check them out. The bridge was built and they need to do is verify drs etc perhaps at times they may need another employee and that xtra person could be pt Admit I do not know the volume which could be causing the delay along with them not getting required documents etc Just seems it could be handled better and faster

I heard it's actually pretty close to one person, sad as that is. I think I remember hearing that it's four people tops, but might be down to two now.

Whew! I know it's unlike me--but after countering 'sju''s pessimism and that of others on this theme for a couple months, I was beginning to feel a bit antsy!

That's not a statement that patience will be paying off very soon. It sounds like a question of will patience be paying off very soon. Just more weasel wording.

No need to get insulting. I was expressing optimism this will happen this week or next based on some feedback from Ct. circles. Sorry if I was not clear. If I knew it was a certainty I would not have included the ?.

BTW I am only pessimistic about this coming true. Still am. Pretty funny anyone on this board would call me pessimistic.
Even w/o Heron I say we make the tourney this year and will be fun to watch.
And on bright side when Heron is ruled ineligible in Dec it will help solve the problem everyone has about next year's team.

Sorry Paultz, what does "CT. circles" refer to? Thanks

Keep up the good work. The ? is better than some "insiders" giving bum information as if it's fact.

I have the utmost respect for Paultz and his sources. This is not a knock at Paultz who I view as one of the must read guys on here. HOWEVER his sources are not with the NCAA. His credible sources might be confident but honestly that does not really mean much in this particular case.Unless Paultz is trading emails or texts with one of the 2 guys hearing these cases I remain skeptical.

Connecticut where I live & where I saw Heron play a number of times. Love his game, consummate warrior.
