Wonder how Brandon Sampson feels about his decision to go to LSU now
Was thinking the same thing about the decision not to accept the NIT invitation. The new governor has gone so far as to state that there might not be LSU football this coming season. Doubt it will happen: there'd be riots if LSU's season were canceled. Basketball is popular, but football is what Louisianans live for.
State is broke because they elected a fucking moron as Governor.
On a similar note Bill Self better start watching his budget.
For the record, it's not the current governor, but the previous one -- the creepy Piyush "Bobby" Jindal -- whose no-tax policies left the state deeply in debt.

Sorry, yes I forgot he was no longer the gov. But he was the fucking moron to which I was referring.

State is broke largely because Louisiana is a very poor state. I've tried to do business with them for years, and the story is always the same - no money. Also of course, going way, way back, politics is very corrupt there.

Primary reasons for Louisiana's financial disaster were Jindal's no-tax policies (always sounds good until no revenue is raised) coupled with the huge drop in oil prices, which led to his leaving the state with something like a a $1.6 billion+ debt. (I worked in Baton Rogue for seven months in 2003. Weird place. LSU won the national title that year, and I had the opportunity to witness, and experience, Tiger madness first-hand, which was something else! Basketball isn't even close.)
