We need a go-to guy during crunch time, because as of we don't have one. Zuby is the closest, but he needs to rely on other players to get him the ball. Smith seems like the kind of kid who can fit the bill, except Rick has an aversion to playing him during crunch time.

After watching this team and the drop off of athleticism from the bench, I think coach P should get back to what he used to do best….. developing young talent, and work a lot with Mr. Glover to get him game acclimated. At least, I believe he possesses the necessary athleticism/strength to contend with the better more physical teams we have faced.

If this was the 50's Rick Pitino would be investigated for point shaving!
This was as close as it gets to a coach "throwing the game"!

He sits our only ball hander in the second half and leaves Richmond in to fumble the ball and be completely unproductive. He inserts Dunlap......who he SAT the previous game, and allows him to shoot ZERO PERCENT.

Has a healthy and more talented Prey ride the bench in favor of Vince.

Yes, outside of Zuby, the team stunk but did Pitino try any new combinations that made any basketball sense?

This loss was on many individuals but coach gets a D for his coaching this game.
As for the rest of the team, Zuby gets an A+, Luis B+, Smith C, Scott C, Wilcher C+ and Richmond D-. The rest of the bench is non gradable since cameo appearance doesn't count.

More talent across the board (and on the bench) this season. I'm annoyed by 2-19 and other things today, but we'll be fine.
Can’t dismiss blowing ooc games we should have won, while bitching at NCAA if we come up short for a bid. Obviously early, but two lost opportunity games already only makes our ultimate goal more difficult. History supports that.

Very much agree with your post. I felt Dunlap was in there long enough to get a poor grade.

Agree that wasted opportunities hurt. I just can't envision this team (and coach) being on the bubble in March. But I've been around long enough to know that if SJU basketball can break my heart, it will.

I would say… more talent in the starting rotation but at this point not in the depth pieces. And no one on this team compares to Danis Jenkins IMO. Perhaps more depth pieces will surface but today demonstrated it was not available.
That's one Pitino can wear. I kept waiting for Smith, Glover, Prey to make an appearance.

Team played 3 games in 4 days, including a double OT game. I give them credit for getting off the mat against UVa after the terrible Baylor loss, but by all appearances they were not ready today for the early start on the heels of the two prior games.

Credit to Georgia for playing hard, and they have a couple of very good players in Newell and Demary. But SJU had the talent and experience edge and ultimately should have won the game. Carelessness with the ball, a terrible shooting performance, and no-shows by multiple players (led by Kadary) doomed them.

I'm going to skip the overreaction parade -I figured going into the season this would be a borderline top-25 team and probably 4th in the BE so my disappointment barometer is in a different spot than those who thought we were going to win the BE and go to the Final 4.

But (as usual with SJU) there isn't much breathing room left - they will have to perform well in the league and I think they will.
