@Georgetown, Wed., Feb. 21, 7p, FS-1

RJs best game tonight I think. Glad to see it. And Dingle looked his most aggressive yet. Sims best minutes were tonight.

That said, I didn’t see much improvement overall versus the Seton Hall game. A win is a win and I’ll take it.

Need to win out. Let’s go boys.
I was not impressed with Luis at all. A bunch of layups and dunks. Still cant shoot, is a human turnover and has 0 basketball IQ.

I did think Dingle was much improved but again, vs Gtown it does not mean much.

Lets see what happens on Sunday.

I was impressed with Gtowns freshman pg. That kid could be the next colin gillespe. Their freshman big was decent too.

With the portal, whos know who sticks around but those 2 should be solid big east players for the next 3 years.

It's a deader than dead horse at this point... but our lack of lateral quickness was on complete display last night.

I watched Rowan (redshirt Fr pg) a couple games- was never too impressed as he couldn't really get by other BE defenders.... but last night, he had 0 issues...

Fielder will be a good one as well

I concur re: Brumbaugh. I've watched the Hoyas play a few times this season, and Brumbaugh hasn't impressed me. Last night was an abysmal display by our guards/forwards to stay in front of Epps and Brumbaugh.

Did not watch but enjoyed reading the game thread this morning.

Did I read that Luis (a) passed the basketball one time and (b) moved without it another time? Maybe baby steps of progress on the judgment front.

Saw a few comments about Soriano playing D out at the top of the key - we do know that is the defensive design, not his personal choice, right?

There are no moral victories and no bad wins (though this is about as close as it gets to the latter). On to the next game.

I know you're being funny, but Luis legitimately moved without the ball/cut to the basket about 4-5 times for easy lay-ups. It was great to watch.

Point A however....

who decides which players go to the press conference?
Yes lets coddle these grown men getting paid by NIL and a free education by all means. But Rick is a master politician, made right in the public eyes at the same time lit a fire underneath his players and came home with a W

Rick even mentioned that in his press conference, when he talk about the bounce pass to the cutter. It was RJ going to the hoop almost every time on that (Joel even got a nice one to him, for one of the dunks).

But, he did benefit from a friendly rim on a few of those moves.

Luis did better overall doing some little things like moving w/o ball and cutting. Also, he made some nice shots. This is what you expect him to do on a regular basis.

Where I struggle with him is worrying that he and his advisor are more focused on his pro career than listening to staff, practicing hard, diligently defending and learning here. He obviously has some skills, maybe not to the level fans think, but if he could buy into things I would welcome him back. I am not confident he will nor would I be surprised if chooses to leave. The remaining games may shed more light on that.

And, develop a reliable handle and stronger hands. He has potential; it just needs to be honed.

Dink, you me and Paultz are all on the same page when it comes to RJ. If he accepts coaching (and regardless of my other Pitino observations there is no doubt that he is a stellar teacher of the game) and improves his decision making and TEAM play his athletic ability makes him a potential star.

He would be wise to stay with Pitino for another year and soak up the benefits that can come with that.

Or, he could be Omar Cook.

(P.S. I think the best solution to his handle is knowing when to give the ball up - there's too much wrong with his ball handling to fix easily after however many years he has spent developing bad habits)
