Georgetown, Sat. Feb. 25, Noon, YES&FOX/570

Also and I don't know if this was mentioned on the thread previously and granted it was georgetown but yesterday was the perfect example of why I don't want less games played at the garden. Brought a friend of mine to the game who is a casual SJU fan and as were were walking in ( right after getting some bronx pale ales ) that he mentioned how there is always an electricity to the garden and how going to msg feels like you are going to an event.

The crowd was great yesterday and even when there have been smaller crowds this year I think they have been pretty loud
It depends on the size of the crowd. I think we had 11,000 yesterday. That's a nice crowd. But for the games that don't draw, they should be at Carneseca. Of course the more we win the lager the crowds.

4. Mullin out coached JTIII, I'm not sure if he should get more time to turn around the G- Town program but I do feel for him he has big shoes to fill. Like SJU a strong G-Town only helps the conference and both teams. I hope to see both these teams

Get more time ? If I am not mistaken he was hired at the same time as Norm Roberts. Which would mean this is his 13 th season there. If he is hindered in any way because of his wife's breast cancer which was diagnosed a few seasons ago then he should get some more time. Otherwise they have had sufficient time to assess his performance.

Put a winning product on the court, and we'll draw 12-15K with 75%+ rooting for SJU.

The stars were in alignment yesterday. Gorgeous weather. Festive atmosphere. Original Big East rival. Great game. Johnny W. Like you, I thought the crowd was amazing. It felt like an old school day at MSG.

This will not end well. Georgetown is in a no win spot. JTII has underwhelmed for sure. But his dad still casts a mammoth shadow, and the University doesn't want to piss off its legendary coach.

Oh, well. No tears coming from here.

We are lucky Carnesecca had a daughter.

Wow has 114 changed. It used to be where the outcasts would gather. Now you are bringing your wealthy friends in.

114 is now hipster Williamsburg of the Garden. ;)

Haaaa. We pretty much started out as a rebel group that hated Norm :) There were several calls of " when is Kranmars coming back ". I told them we might have to wait for your kids to get off to college. Or at least finish with that whole birthday party circuit and karate :)

My bad I can't believe its been 13 years since JTIII was hired! If that's the case he should go and be replaced with Lavin!

Since it's unlikely Patrick Ewing will get a pro head coaching job, perhaps he'd consider coaching at Georgetown. They sure do need a change.

Ewing versus Mullin at MSG. Even ESPN would have to cover it.

must have been in jest or in reference to Sean Evans.

Agee 100% on this. The Garden is a draw to fans even in seasons like this one, where we have played pretty well in Big East play. The crowds for all of our conference home games have ranged from excellent to very good. Said it in another thread or other board, but Seton Halll is coming off a BE title/Ncaa appearance, and on track for another appearance, and they cannot draw more than 4000 fans to week night games against Big East foes at the ROC in an important stretch of the season. And I think next year our crowds are going to be even better once we get really cooking.

That must have been nearly as shocking as hearing him say something nice about President Trump.

I thought both the numbers and intensity of the crowds increased this year over the past few years.

I thought Carnesecca daughter's name was Enis.

Alibegovic the difference

Not really. My vote goes to Ponds and Mussini. Am I crazy or is Federico's defense improving? Even penetrating more this year. Granted Alibecovig was needed when our big men came down with injuries and fouls but he had no rebounds and had two passes surprise him and bounce off his chest. Ellison helped with the rebounding playing 34 minutes. Was waiting for Mussini to get back in the game in the second half while we still had Owens and Williams. Kept us in the game in the first half, finishing the game with 16 points. Call me crazy again but we need Ahmed's boards and scoring. Don't know if we survive losing this game. G'town is terrible along with their weak coach.
The bump by Hayes reminded me of John Thompson seniors dirt bag teams.

You're not crazy. Mussini has improved on defense. He works his ass off on d and he neither gets pushed around (looks he has kept the weight on this season) and has maybe even gained half a step. Regardless no one is blowing by him, and he doubled down a few time to create steals.

Now, for the asses who say he can't shoot, he has a very fast trigger, and needs very little room to catch and shoot. He's streaky but when he lights it up can hit 2 or 3 bombs in multiple possessions. Is he as good as Ponds or Lovett? No way, that would be as isiotic as saying he can't shoot. But he is an extremely valuable role player and without him.today, we don't win - period.

I believe he made 2 layups, including a sneaky quick cut off an inbounds late. 4 star day.
Agree Beast. Don't expect him to become a very good defender -- but you can see the effort and commitment are absolutely there.

1. Mussini was the man today but for that bad inbound pass.
2. Ali came through with some nice plays but his butter fingers are killing me and still I don't understand how he gets so many minutes, he is the most awkward looking player on the floor and just doesn't seem to mesh I'm not sure if his good plays today outweighs the risk of keeping him on the floor.
3. We should have been up 20 plus points throughout the game with all the turn overs
4. Mullin out coached JTIII, I'm not sure if he should get more time to turn around the G- Town program but I do feel for him he has big shoes to fill. Like SJU a strong G-Town only helps the conference and both teams. I hope to see both these teams ranked in the near future.
5. Ponds is a true NyC play ground player, he has some real potential if directed properly by the staff.
I'd have to check the replay and defer to those who saw the replay on TV, but I thought that Ponds got pushed on the inbounds pass from Mussini.

Considering that we lost to this same team by almost 30 points a few weeks ago, I'd call this a major step forward.

I still have lots of things to b*tch about--for instance, the inexplicable stretches of Lovett on the bench and the fact that Alibegovic sees more than 60 seconds on the court.

But still, if we don't win another game this season, I'd be OK with that. The rebuild is working.

We could still easily loose by 30 to this team(or any team) in the Big East tournament, So I'll take today game as a great win, but not anything more than that,

No question this team will surprise you and disappoint you this year and we aren't done with that. But all in all this has been a really fun team that doesn't fold just because the pressure is on.

BOE
Yes and
Chris Mullin has said that repeatedly this season
His refrain:
Young players = inconsistent play

I guess he's not such a bad coach after all
Imagine when he gets a full complement of talent
:)
