Georgetown (MSG), Tues. Jan. 9, 6:30p, FS1/570AM

we have not contoled an opposing big to date. Looks like another loss.Is it possible after 3yrs we are at the bottom of the confr and on our way to win 0 games in conf.Something drastic has to happen which i can not see things changing But will still watch and cheer for something good to take place on the court.

The best way to control Georgetown's big men, is to pressure the guards. But, I mean really pressure the guards, like 2 guys on the ball in the backcourt for the whole game.

In the BE opener, once Butler started doing that, the Hoya guards were totally rattled, and we know what the final result was.

I agree. Their guards are very shaky and ripe for Simon and company to cause turnovers. Once we allow Govan to get the ball down low fouls will occur. Whoever guards Derrickson needs to be aware of his three point shot and must box out.

St. John's had an extra-long team meeting yesterday, I'm told. Message was they aren't going to be anyone playing selfishly. Staff felt they were selfish at both ends of the floor. #sjubb

Talk is cheap, show it on the court.
If we lose, we'll be 0-6 after the Villanova beatdown. I know, no depth, but 0-6 is still sad.

Worst game of the season. Played like they were sleepwalking and some guys chucking 3s like drunken sailors. And the ‘no depth’ reality 3-D stark with our shooting meltdown becoming a nightmare in 2nd halves of our last few games.

This is the Georgetown game thread, so, is anyone going to the game tomorrow night? I am.
Yes and I'm prepared to suffer already

If the Johnnies win we'll get you to the next game at CA.

I will be at the game tomorrow. Heading to Stout first. Hopefully we can come up big tomorrow and turn this thing around.

Mike is good luck. He woke them up last season at Tulane. Stop by section 114 rows 20 and 21. A few of us sit there.

Haaaaa I have to give equal credit to Darrin and Jerseyshorejohnny. It was a group root effort

I am hoping for a surprise win because losing at the Garden is pretty bad PR for recruits. This is a game where both Alibegovic and Yakwe can make a difference if they play smart basketball. Hopefully two 6'9 Hoya players ( Muresan and Mourning) who are sons of former NBA stars don't outshine them because their talent has fallen very far from the paternal tree. Without Marcus this may be the last home game we have a chance of winning. Other than defend the 3 we need to drive and share the ball. Rebounding may continue to be a problem but I think we match up well in the department with Gtown.

Things are certainly not going good right now but depending on Ali to be a difference maker sounds like pure desperation.

Our 2 achilles. Rebounding and defending the 3. Both are about hustle. Georgetown shoots 34% from 3 for the year but only 30% past 5 games. We can't let this game be the one they break out and drain everything. Rebounding is going to be tough but i'd rather we all crash boards and sacrifice transition offense. They outrebound their opponents by 8 a game. Also, early fouls have killed us. Can't have guys like TO and MC get 2 early ones and get yanked. When they come back later in the game, they seem out of the flow.

Desperate times call for desperate measures! (Pardon the plagiarism)

At least we can look at this game differently by that I mean we no longer look at games like we are going to win or be competitive . We can look at the games now for what they are enjoyment without pressure and looking toward tomorrow. LOL
