While I like Simon for a lot of what he does , he is beginning to resemble Ellison in numbers of turnovers , missed dunks and bad passes . He is without question a better player but, for all his 4 tool skills , he needs to play better than he has . He is not a good shooter and is less than 70 percent from foul line , which is not good as he often is fouled after making a great move , resulting in a missed shot he should have made and then , misses the foul shot . So instead of a 3 Point score , we wind up with zero. That’s as bad as a turnover , when your trip is empty . Mussini , in my mind , is the most significant loss this year . He was a streaky shooter , which we desperately need and he could light it up , more times than not . Without Lovett, having Mussini , playing this year , we might have picked up wins against Seton Hall and Creighton . And , certainly Gtown . His loss was substantial , despite those who didn’t like his D or lack of Athleticism . He was a good and smart B.B. player and this team could have used his Skills . Against Nova , ponds and Simon have to get to the hoop a lot and not rely on outside shots . We likely need 35 or more from Simon and Ponds and 45- 50 from Ahmed, Clark and Owens to have a chance .The Bench ? Any thing positive , points, rebounds, blocks, steals is a Bonus .
