Georgetown (MSG), Tue., Jan. 14 , 7:30p, PEACOCK

I no think that they’ll be scrappy and the game will be closer than we want. But in the end, I think we will win solidly. We will wear them down. Defensive effort against Sorber like we did against Dixon will be a big factor.

Their guards are very susceptible to turnovers. We need to pressure them too.

Any chance we get Glover back?

My experience, maturity v youthful talent theory for beating GT, Smith or no Smith 🤞per Cooley opening comment

In addition to Sorber (best freshman in the league and a legit all league potential kid right now, as a frosh) and Mack (who is a good PG), I've been super-impressed by Peavey as a two-way player. Whoever he guards will need to be strong with the ball and not get into the ref stuff. He plays Stevie-Mitchell caliber defense and is really tough.

Johnnie Nation, after the tremendous turnout last night, let’s keep the turnout going for
Tuesday night. Our guys really feed off of the energy from the crowd no matter where it was. Whether it was at Carnesecca, in the Bahamas for those 3 electric games, or at the garden, the support has been tremendous. As they say, “Win and the fans will show up”, that has exactly happened in 2 seasons under Coach Pitino. Let’s make the garden a house of horrors for years to come in conference play. Hope to see everyone at MSG and let’s go Johnnies.

I think that beating the Hoyas without Smith will be a monumental task especially if Epps plays. He and Mack form a formidable back court that will create problems for a depleted back court. And while Wilcher had some shining moments of play after a very rough game, it has become obvious that with Smith out we really have no back court depth.

Their front court of 6’11 Fielder and Sorber are also quite formidable and will test our interior rebounding and overall play.

Remember, this is a very competitive Georgetown team that blew out Creighton and took Marquette to the wire and while I believe we should be able to grind out yet another win, it will be no easy task.
It will also be a half court game. KR does not speed up offense like Scott. A slog. If anyone gets into foul trouble it will get tougher.

Glover is a good talent and there is a lot of time left this season for him to turn the corner, but he is too hectic for my liking right now. He was in for a few seconds last night and committed an unnecessary foul.

I prefer Ayo at this point. Very steady kid. The range of outcomes with Glover is really big at this point.

I greatly prefer playing at MSG to CA for a number of reasons, so it's very encouraging that we beat New Mexico and Villanova by double digits. There's been a lot of debate here whether certain games, such as Georgetown, should be at CA instead for a better home court advantage. We finally have a year where we've greatly outdrawn the Nova fans, and I expect another very good home court advantage vs. Georgetown.

Last year this game drew 16K on a Saturday in March. Would be huge if we can approach that number on a Tuesday in January.

Guessing we'll be about 10.5 point favs.

Georgetown was rolling until they got the tough draw of having to play Marquette and Conn back to back. Now they get us after losing those two games. Do they bounce back or does their slide continue?

Sorber is legit and they have much more talent than last year but we should be able to exploit their turnover woes. Hoping even without Smith we won't have to sweat this one
I'm worried that we might lose without smith

I better not read anyone call this a must-win game lol.
Not a must win, but lets keep a good thing going, and keep racking up these wins.

With that we'll move up the polls, with that we'll have little to worry about in late February & March about making the NCAA Tournament.

So yeah, I just want the NCAA committee idiots to not get any plans about leaving us out again.
Lets just continue to win and not leave any doubt. In late February I want to be on here as a top 15 teams just relaxing and having no doubt that we'll make it. I'm a worrier, what can I say.
