Georgetown (MSG), Sat., Mar. 9, 12 Noon, FOX

I said all season long that we were in far better hands no matter how the season played out, but you're gonna tell me that even as recently as 3 weeks ago, you saw this team making this kind of turn around and dancing?
Ain't gonna lie Monte, at 14-12 I was scared shitless. However, like Eric, I am an eternal optimist. If you look at my posts, you will see one constant, we just need to take it a Game at a time, not look ahead. Coach and his players did just that and are now 19-12.

Let's all be ready to root for them on Thursday.

It looked bad at the time, and then got even worse. But let me ask you this: let's say we get beaten badly by SH and get knocked out in the play-in game, do you consider the season a success?
Yes. Because what Father Shanley and Coach Pitino are doing is trying to rebuild a brand that had been tarnished so badly words can’t justify how bad.

The program is being upgraded on every level behind the scenes. This will culminate in a new state of the art Sports Compkex later this decade.

So put me in the corner that this season has been a rousing success from a 360 view.

Do I want an NCAA tournament invite? yes very bad but can’t lose sight of how this woebegone program is slowly being brought into the 2020s let alone this century.

I said going in to the season that I would consider this season a success if we were a bubble team, and also said during the season that it may take a little longer than some would like for Pitino to turn things around. So I agree with you completely.

Yes you did. You always preach patience Panther, even in the bleakest moments. I try to look at things the way you do, but my wiring doesn't always allow me to do so. lol

IF we make it to the big dance this team is winning more than one game. Of course based on matchups but I was bullish with my prediction of making it past sweet sixteen status this year before any games started based on roster construction and this coach and IF we get in look out!!!

My friend, while I preach patience, I also do a lot of Praying , lol;. What I appreciate about out friendship is that while we may often disagree, we respect each other's opinions, which is how it should be.

We ride the “roller coaster” because our defense has no consistency. Pitino has basically said this during the post game pressers. They will go as far as the defense holds up. Yesterday, RJ Luis made a couple of good defensive plays resulting in instant offense. Unfortunately, the Epps kid was slicing us up with free runs to the hoop Most of the game.

Many have criticized our defense saying it has no consistency. Too many fouls in backcourt putting us in the bonus early in the game.

I think we would be more effective with NO PRESS. This would eliminate the full court ”blow by” we often see. I just don’t see the benefits we get pressing.

Perhaps it’s the devil we know

Oh trust me I hope so. But it is still a bad matchup. Hall has proven everyone wrong all yr. They are going to be a very tall task. If we play like we did today we lose by 10+. That said, it’s tough to beat anyone 3x straight in same season.
It’s not a bad matchup. It’s probably the best matchup we could’ve hoped for in the quarterfinal tbh. Now it’s about going out, playing hard and executing. Will be a dogfight no doubt

I agree Rehobie, we just don’t have the personnel right now to consistently press effectively.

True. How many times do we see one of our players (DJ, Wilcher) to name a few, run up the back of the offensive players as they chase the play. Playing hard and playing smart are two different things. That’s a RP decision I guess and why he gets the big bucks.

I want to give a shoutout to all the SJU fans that have showed up to games this season. I think we are lucky to have so many fans when the program has stunk for over 2 decades.
I brought kids yesterday who have never been to a game and had a blast. Honestly with Pitino I think we are as good a value in this market as anyone, and I'm a diehard fan of our professional sports teams. My season tickets are a pittance compared to what it costs to go to those games, and I had good seats this year.
