Georgetown 1st Game

I'm heading to D.C. for the game. Anyone else making the trip ????

I'm thinking about it. If I work out taking off on tuesday I will let you know

I'd be up for it.
Let me know your plans please and if ticket availability is a problem.

Ok should know by tomorrow so will let you know.

A friend of mine at work got tickets last week for $40 a piece and they are pretty good tix so I don't think tix will be a problem

plane/train schedules aren't helpful.
Not like driving to Providence.

Fun fact:

Last year we started 0-5, and fought back to 6-6 in conference play.

What was the win that got us to above .500 and 7-6 in BE play, Georgetown at the garden.

We are 6-6 now. Hmmm

Honestly, I get why you're afraid of Josh Smith, but let's not get crazy.

In his past 5 games, he's averaging under 20 min, about 6.5 points and about 4 rebounds a game. He's fouled out of 2 of those games.

Bad memories fromUCLA and him kicking our ass

Haaa. Damn we were all out in Cali for that game

In the UCLA game Smith was cutting to the middle and scoring with ease. Right now he is stationary in low, Obekpa has to front him which shouldn't be a problem with his speed and length.

I would also add that we played them at the Garden 3 years ago and he played 22 minutes, yet we still won. So, we have had success against him, and we know that Dom, D'Lo and Phil played in that game, so they've seen him before.

Chris looked pretty good. It's Dom that is in a perfect position to step up. When josh smith gets the ball at the free throw line and looks to score or pass, Dom has a knack for swarming the ball, stealing it, or just making the guy uncomfortable.

The question for us in this one is whether or not we have enough offense to get the job done. DLo struggles against Georgetown and is also probably not 100%. Sheed, Phil, and hopefully Jamal Branch need to step up for us to have a shot.

I thought Chris was far from 100%.
Not worried about DLo. Dom is Dom.
Keep the long rotation to keep the key guys fresh.

My guess is we will be 4.5 point dogs Tue. The wise guys know we are playing up to our potential and probably still will ride the wave

It's like Buffalo up here.

This is not a Jamal game, this is a Rysheed game imo. Need him to have a good one.

With this team, I don't necessarily buy the focus on one or two players. I see it more as a team effort. We've been moving the ball so well and selflessly that 5 of our top 6 rotation players have had their moments knocking down big shots. When Amar is on the floor, even though he hasn't been money yet, if he's open he gets the ball. Gone are those recent days of last season where guys took the first opportunity they had to launch low percentage shots.

Defensively, we have to continue the high energy doubling down, and when we do, rotate well to guard the perimeter. Our athleticism has pressured a lot of turnovers, but it can't be a reckless gambling when opponents capitalize on every error we make. If that happens, we have to adjust and play tough in your face defense.

Harrison has had long droughts where everyone else was scoring. Sampson, Greene, Pointer, and of course Branch also. Anything above 8 points from CO is a bonus. Keep hitting the open man, and a hero will emerge.

Sampson?

Any update on Harrison's injury?

It really all comes down to this. Notice our loses and subsequent winning streak coincide with his health.
