Fox Sports 1 Considering Their Own "Big Monday"

it's a sad thing that ESPN is considered "serious" in its tone and that FS1 wants to make things more comedic or "fun." sheeesh...ESPN has been a cornball network for a while, with Berman and Stuart Scott and even worse with the debate shows (Kornheiser, Around the Horn, and the Skip/Smith combo), the ESPYs, The Decision, etc. Good for ESPN to have competition, but Opie and Anthony style Sportscenter shows are not what a sports fan wants, is it? :) I'm old.

Sorry if this was already mentioned but have you guys seen the new fox sports commercial? You can get a few quick looks at the UA jerseys.http://www.sportingnews.com/sport/s...mercial-mlb-all-star-game-home-run-derby-2013

The jerseys are just holdover jerseys. More rebranding coming down the road

Moose, holdover for the commercial or holdover for the season? Thanks

I know you addressed this to Moose, but likely for the season. The administration has said it may take up to 1 full year to totally rebrand.

Yea but others have said that the ones in the commercial are not the ones we will be wearing. Just trying to get conformation. Don't love those ones in the commercial.

Those are pretty much the same uniforms as last yr. Throw on some piping and the UA logo. The press release from SJU after the announcement talked about how some teams wont have new logos until next yr in some cases.

My guess is they will wear these for Europe without question. After that who knows.

Wow, very happy for Kevin! He seems like such a genuine guy and someone who truly loves what he does when watching SNY. He deserved this, and I'll be looking forward to seeing him get more exposure.

Includes US Open. From Sports Business Journal-

Fox Sports, never much of a player in the golf space, has won the rights to the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open and the U.S. Senior Open in a stunning deal that takes those majors away from NBC and Golf Channel.

The U.S. Golf Association awarded Fox a 12-year multimedia contract that begins in 2015 and runs through 2026. NBC has broadcast the U.S. Open since 1995, meaning the 2014 broadcast — its final one — will be the 20th edition of the U.S. Open that the network has televised.

Fox will pick up rights the following year with Fox’s broadcast network and the soon-to-launch Fox Sports 1 serving as the principal domestic partner. Financial terms were not available.

USGA President Glen Nager acknowledged that the new arrangement with Fox is “a game-changer for our organization and for the game of golf.” Added Fox Sports Co-President and COO Eric Shanks: “We’re looking forward to Fox Sports becoming home to the pre-eminent golf championship in the world.”

In addition to the three majors, Fox also will broadcast the USGA’s national amateur championships, which had been a staple of Golf Channel’s coverage.

The deal represents a significant boost in coverage hours for the USGA. Fox’s deal will increase the total hours of coverage from 90 to 146 overall, and the number of hours devoted to the 10 amateur events jumps from 30 to 76.

Great news indeed. Fox is not playing around at all...very aggressive I love it. Every major event they get is just another great opportunity to have Big East basketball commercials catch some more eyes out there.

Well, there's not going to be any BE basketball commercials during major USGA events but generally the better the network offerings the better for the BE, that is true.

Distribution figures for U.S. cable networks during the month of August show that FS1 could launch in 85.8 million homes when it replaces Speed on Aug. 17. That figure would put the net just ahead of Golf Channel in terms of distribution. FS2 also is set to replace Fuel TV soon and could be in around 37.7 million homes. NBC Sports Network also will begin its first season of EPL coverage later this month, with the net in 77.7 million U.S. homes. CNBC, in 96.2 million homes in August, will also air EPL games this season as part of the new deal. The PGA Championship gets under way today from Rochester, N.Y., and TNT -- which has the early rounds -- is in 98.1 million homes this month, down from 98.9 million at the same point last year. ESPN is in 97.7 million homes in August, the net's lowest distribution mark since September '08.

Because there's no college basketball advertising in May through August.

They just had the FS1 commercial with SJU/G'Town basketball in it during the MLB All Star Game.
