“@nickfasuloSBN: Break up the Big Monday Band! RT @TheBigLead: BREAKING: Bill Raftery Leaves ESPN For Fox Sports 1 http://is.gd/S6YnCi

Awesome to have Raftery join Fox Sports 1 to cover the Big East...He's been such a huge proponent and fan of the Big East over the years

"The Big East Conference schedule begins with a five-game, all-teams-featured New Year’s Eve marathon on Dec. 31 (St. John’s at Xavier, noon ET; Seton Hall at Providence, 2:30 p.m. ET; DePaul at Georgetown, 5 p.m. ET; Villanova at Butler, 7:30 p.m. ET; and Marquette at Creighton, 10 p.m. ET)."

Awesome! Love the marathon! Open at Xavier, tought out.

Finally! Very smart to give a 2 1/2 hr window for each game. Hate when they schedule games 2 hrs apart and sometimes you miss the whole first half of a game you want to see if other game goes long or into OT.

Now when my wife asks what are plans for New Year's Eve are I can tell her we will be finishing off a BE marathon with a game from the great state of Nebraska (a happening state if ever there was one). LOL

CNBC's Jim Cramer yesterday morning said Wall Street analysts are "very excited" about the launch of FS1 and its potential for 21st Century Fox' stock. Cramer said, "I think ESPN has so much momentum right now this may not be as exciting as people think, but it's incredibly well run. These companies spew a lot of cash. I would never bet against (News Corp. Chair & CEO Rupert) Murdoch." But Cramer said he "believes very strongly this is the one," that FS1 will work and "even though I think ESPN is going to be triumphant, you're going to get a lot of money into this" ("Squawk on the Street," CNBC, 7/1). THESTREET.com's Robert Arenella reported 21st Century Fox yesterday "gained in its first trading day as a separately-owned company" after separating from parent company News Corp. Credit Suisse analysts said the company's expanded sports programming "will accelerate sales," with Fox "expected to outperform its peers ... as Fox Sports 1 and FXX take advantage of expanded international networks and the acquisition of programming." These investments will "weaken earnings before some costs growth by about 10% this year." However, the Credit Suisse analysts "expect these investments to yield solid long term returns, driving mid-teens total EBITDA growth in FY15-16E.'" 21st Century Fox is "forecast to offset current revenue weakness" with Fox' broadcast of the World Series and Super Bowl. Sports offerings are "expected to bring in 21% growth." Meanwhile, Fox execs see "lower costs and growth at their European sports broadcasting network; Sky Italia and SkyD" (THESTREET.com, 7/1).

YES Network to televise ACC basketball and football games and Big East basketball games

NEW YORK -- The YES Network, the most-watched regional sports network in the country the past 10 years, has reached an agreement with FOX Sports Media Group by which YES will televise live Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) basketball and football games and Big East basketball games beginning this fall.
As part of the deal, YES will televise up to 10 ACC football games and up to 23 men's ACC basketball games, as well as select women's basketball and Olympic sports. YES will also offer up to 10 Big East basketball games. Telecast schedules will be announced at a later date. All telecasts will be in HD.

Eight schools that will compete in the ACC in football this fall played in bowl games last season. Seven schools that will compete in the ACC in men's basketball during the 2013-14 season, and five schools that will compete in the Big East, participated in the NCAA men's basketball tournament this past spring.

"This agreement is an example of the symbiotic relationship YES now enjoys with FOX, a new minority owner of YES," said Tracy Dolgin, President & CEO, YES Network. "Given our complementary interests and areas of expertise, we anticipate more of these types of mutually beneficial collaborations going forward."

"We're proud to partner with the YES Network to televise Big East and ACC games to fans, students, and alumni throughout the New York area," said Jeff Krolik, executive vice president, FOX Sports regional networks. "New York is one of the traditional strongholds of the Big East, and now that the ACC is also represented through Syracuse, there should be a great deal of regional interest in these games."

The only regional interest is through Syracuse, which annoys the hell out of me. Can't stand that school.

I thought ESPN had the ACC?

Everyone sub-licenses out games. Only so many games can fit on network TV. Its a way for them to make a little buck back on the heavy rights fees.

I understand that but I fgure ESPN would sub-license the ACC games, not FOX. This stuff just confuses me.
