Final 5 Games

The good news is that we clearly haven't peaked too early. The bad news is that we might not peak at all.

This comes straight from Mullins laid back nature. That you just forget it and focus on the next game, next possession etc. But, this is not an 80 game season and there has to be a sense urgency at some point. Hopefully, it comes Saturday
Hopefully, it comes Saturday indeed...and in the next 3-4 games after the Hall game.
It’s getting awfully close to ‘now or never’ and it’s time to have that sense of urgency.
I think they'll win Saturday night, because every time we're about to write them off, they always come through, but nobody can be confident that they'll win.
Ev every game is 50/50.
That’s true. But, every time they win a big game and we think the team turned a corner they loose. Hopefully we get payback agaist SHU. I’m also w Monte, this team is an enigma.
Exactlyyyyyyyy. I know they're not, but it almost seem like they're trolling us, lol. When we're pissed, they'll shut us up and win, Then when we feel good about them, it's almost like they're saying: "ok our fans are getting to happy, so lets lose just to piss the fans off again.
Then they'll win just to calm us down and well you know the deal.

I very well may be wrong but I think that based on what happened at the end of the first matchup with Seton Hall that the league and the officials will go out of there way to call a fair game tomorrow. Unlike any of our other games, I expect a friendly whistle at home tomorrow. I think that helps us tremendously, especially with Heron and Ponds driving to the hoop and with Clark on defense. We shall see.

I’m done predicting if we win or lose. Or which team shows up. This years team is a lot like my golf game. I can go out and shoot an 80 or 100. And that’s no joke.

We're 1-2 since you started this thread. Frankly, I think we finish either 2-3 or 1-4. Unfortunately, I just don't see us winning both of these games.

Agree. If we lose both do we need a win in the BET to get a bid? I say yes.

When this thread started I said I'd be ok with 3-2 and still feel that way. Winning 1 of the next 2 and finishing 9-9 with this team in a sub par Big East will not feel like a successful season to me unless we win a couple of post season games. If we finish 8-10 I really don't think we deserve an at large bid. Having said that, I think we definitely beat Depaul if Mustapha plays and will have a good chance even if he doesn't.

I predicted either 3-2 or (more likely) 2-3. Not that I exactly went out on a limb. How anyone could have thought we'd go 5-0 or even 4-1, based on our prior play this year, is beyond me. Guess those are the same people who thought, after our insane week last year, that we'd somehow run the tables and sneak in to the tourney. This team is who it is. Their play was erratic during the OOC part of the schedule, in spite of winning all the games, and that play just carried over to the league games. You never know from game to game which team will show up. Hell you don't even know from half to half which team will show up. And you can't blame it on youth. More unfortunately, we never know from game to game which Shamorie will show up. And in order for us to go far this year, we needed a monster year from Shamorie. That just didn't happen. It's far to late in the year for any drastic change to occur. So expect more of the same over what's left in this season; a few unexpected wins, and a few bad losses. Something tells me when all is said and done, this season will end on a very disappointing note. I sure hope I'm wrong.

The ATHLETIC:

St. John’s (20-9, 8-8 — NET: 49, SOS: 64): So, hey, Xavier, huh? The Musketeers have been on an absolute tear, 5-0 in their last five, with wins over Creighton, Providence (away), Seton Hall (away), Villanova and, on Thursday night, at Carnesecca Arena over St. John’s. That’s the only positive spin for the Red Storm — at least Xavier has been beating everyone, you know? It’s not personal. If the bracket were built today, we still think St. John’s would be semi-comfortably in. Of course, the bracket will not be built today, or at any time before the Red Storm play their final two games of the regular season: at tricky DePaul on Sunday and on March 9 in the return trip to Xavier. The Johnnies suddenly have work to do.
For the record I'm disappointed already. Last night I was disgusted so I'm getting better.
Getting worse and I didn't even watch it.

Probably shouldn't be a shock that we seem to yo-yo in and out, since our season has been wildly inconsistent.
