Final 5 Games
All 5 are very winnable.

Is it wrong to be disappointed with 3 wins?
3 wins? That won't now. I see a win vs shu, lose at DePaul, and split at x.
I see 9-9 at best. I'm thinking they need 22 wins to make it.
Better win that Thursday game in the b.e. tourny.

Not to take away from Sunday's win, but last night proved that this team is still the same as it has been since the season started: capable of getting hot and beating anyone, and capable of going cold (having the wheels fall off very quickly) and loosing to anyone. IMO not one single thing has changed. I've seen no growth from the players-individually or collectively-or from the staff. I keep hearing how this team never gives up. I'm sorry, but we gave up early last night and have done so in other games. The fact that we've come back and won some games is admirable, but this team is not a group of hungry overachievers. Once again we're starting to get close to having our backs against the wall. Now that we're 0-1 in our last 5, we pretty much need to go 3-1 to be assured of an NCAA birth. Can't say that I'm feeling to confident that we'll win 3 more games but something tells me we'll still do just enough to get a bid. Maybe we win 2 more and 1 or 2 in the Big East tourney. Lets just beat SH Saturday and go from there.

We're definitely in if we go 2-2 in the last 4, no question. Especially with the quad 1 wins we've racked up.

Agreed. And in my opinion, most on here are setting themselves up to be disappointed! With the way the team has been Jekyl and Hyde all year, it's not realistic to EXPECT to win games we should. To me, every game is a possible loss aside from home vs Xavier. Road games are never a gimme no matter who you're playing, and we have 3 left. And Seton Hall is one of the better teams in the Big East.

So I look at it as 4 coin flips and a win. I prefer to remain level headed and see where it goes. Haven't we realized what getting too high or too low does to us?? B)
Respect your opinion but if that's the case then we really aren't as good as we are all pretending.
I dunno, maybe I don't think we're that good. I've certainly lowered my expectations based on how the season has played out. We've lost too many games we should have won. All it takes is a bad shooting night, which has happened way too often. The way I see it, we have the upside to beat most teams on any given night but certainly capable of also losing to most solid teams.
Yes I'm going to be that guy and quote myself. But it just feels like we get too high after a win and too low after a loss around here. Like Monte said, the team is capable of winning on any given night, but could also lose a game as well. I've certainly temperered my expectations based on how the season has played out. This has been a frustrating season in that regard.

Wow! What negativity from this group after every loss. You guys all need a reality check. This is not a perfect team! Period! But they have talent and can win a lot of games. We all should know their weaknesses after this long and should understand they will lose! Though less often than they win. They did not give up last night , they just shot horribly, made too many unforced errors, and got beat again badly inside. Bad matchups for them against Providence. They certainly have made progress from last year, remember they lost 11 straight BE games! They will win 20 games as a BE team, they should be very proud. Was Clark a disappointment last night? Absolutely! Should the players be more respectful to the refs? Absolutely! Are they suffering with no calls? Absolutely! But they are in college, 20year olds mostly , and they are learning. They admire and respect their coaches, and they will recover and refocus for Seton Hall! Shamorie will be great again , mark my words! We have been marked by the so called experts as having best staring five in big east. So expectations have ramped up even higher. Not necessarily because it’s true, but because media desperate for a strong team in NYC. More pressure on the players.

If we can't find the discipline and consistency needed to go 3-1 in these last four games then we do not deserve to be in the NCAA Tournament. We will see what they are made of these last four.

I think the most winnable game is SH. Xavier & DePaul are not good match-ups. I do not see us winning the away games and it is not going to be easy to beat Xavier here. I think 2-2 is the best case scenario and I would not be surprised if we go 1-3.

While many fans, writers and Mullin are blaming the losses on a lack of effort, I am not sure that's the whole story. I have seen us play completely flat and I did not see that last night. The guys promptly went down 9-0, but they were very active and our close outs were not horrible. Providence came out in a 3-2 zone and did a nice job of denying any pass into the middle foul line area. We were cold from the outside and could't finish at the rim.

IMHO......this is about roster personnel and match-ups. Think about the teams we have beat versus the teams we have lost to. Regardless of their record, any team with a strong inside presence is a big problem for us. We knew this was a problem, but I think the off-season addition of Heron sedated the concern.

Many believe we have the most talented starting five. However, the truth is, we are a one dimensional team. If we can't force the tempo and deny the interior, we are going to lose. It's that simple.

Unfortunately, not exactly a formula for a deep tournament run.

I think, at this point, we could win or lose any of these games. The league is just very balanced, with Marquette the one exception, at the moment. Just hoping we finish third through sixth, and don't have to play Providence, in the Thurs. game.

Or Georgetown. Providence is more likely to start on Wednesday, IMO. Anything can happen, but you have to believe that the three 5-9 teams are still somewhat behind the curve, in terms of getting the first round bye.

After Sunday great comeback win, I'm saying I hope that they could get some momentum going and go on a tear
Then last night happens.
They're a freaking rollercoaster.

For the record I'm disappointed already. Last night I was disgusted so I'm getting better.

At this point, I’m not sure what this team is made of.
They’re too erratic to be called tough or gritty or that they never mail it in, because they have mailed it in a few games, and their come-back and gritty performances—while evident in a few great games—are not traits they possess with any ‘consistency’.
It’s a shame.
What could have been.
Now, I’ll just root like hell for some magic and grittiness to surface these next 4 - 5 games, but I expect to be disappointed.

The bottom line that this team has no sense of urgency when it comes to needing a game, they have no sense of urgency when it comes to taking care of the ball, they have no sense of urgency to make every possession a quality possession and they have no sense of urgency to consistently focus on Stringing together defensive stops.

This comes straight from Mullins laid back nature. That you just forget it and focus on the next game, next possession etc. But, this is not an 80 game season and there has to be a sense urgency at some point. Hopefully, it comes Saturday

Hopefully, it comes Saturday indeed...and in the next 3-4 games after the Hall game.
It’s getting awfully close to ‘now or never’ and it’s time to have that sense of urgency.

I think they'll win Saturday night, because every time we're about to write them off, they always come through, but nobody can be confident that they'll win.
Ev every game is 50/50.

Dont see how anyone can predict a W because our backs are against the wall. Come to think of it, not sure how anyone can predict anything with team. We live and die with the outside shot. When we’re hot we can beat anyone, when we’re not we can loose to anyone. We saw both extremes in the Nova game. Clearly “past performance is no indicator of future results”. Unless someone on this board has a crystal ball, there’s simply no way of predicting how this team will perform from game to game.

This is a very strange team. Normally, by this point in a season, you can read a team. They are good, bad or meh. This team is wildly inconsistent, even within games. They can have brilliant stretches, followed by inexplicable ineptitude. If they make the dance, they will be hell to play...or maybe not.
They remind me of a European league team. Over there, teams on occasion just don’t show up..
