Smart kid, class act, team leader, playing within himself, etc etc etc. Would love him back.

Agree.
Duke of Earlinton is to Marcellus Earlington as Monte is to Rasheem Dunn.
Should change your screen name to Monte Dunn.

I have no problem bringing Williams off the bench to maintain chemistry, particularly since he may not be 100 percent right away.  I also agree that Cole has been playing a bit better of late, but he still makes plenty of mistakes and is a liability on defense.  Williams is one of our best shooters and has a higher three point percentage than Cole, not to mention his other attributes.  All things equal, I'd rather have a healthy Williams on the floor than Cole.

Think they both should on the court at the same time. By now coach should have run particular plays which team blocks out and he get to a designated shop ,the pass gets there and he catches and shoots. Basic def needs to be employed like boxing out.better ball movement, give and go's, taking charges etc

I dont see any way Dunn doesnt come back.  Whats the alternative?  getting a job?

The Garden and Carnesseca are going to be rocking next year and Dunn got a gift to return.  Hed be crazy not to come back.
Yes, get a job . . . playing basketball. He's good enough to play somewhere in the world if he wants to put off getting a "real" job for a while.

Hate to rain on this parade but if this thread was started after the Creighton game the tone would have been much different

Also ironic how after a 4 game winning streak Greg is overrated and its addition by subtraction /media/kunena/emoticons/whistling.png

Agree.  Playing Posh and Dunn together means that you have two 6 foot tall guards who can't shoot and overrate their ability to get to the rim on the floor at the same time.  It makes it easier for the other team's defense to focus on Champagnie and Cole - especially when you have to start Roberts who isn't an offensive threat of any kind.

What's made it work is that Posh has hit a few threes early in the game and has exercised MUCH better judgment about when to drive, and Dunn has also generally been better in his decision making and is taking more pull-up jumpers which he (and Posh) both desperately need to make a staple in their arsenal.

But your offense and defense are both just structurally better with Williams who is taller, a better on-ball defender, and a better shooter than Dunn.  We'd all like him to be more assertive, sure.

Not saying that Dunn doesn't have a role as a third guard in a small lineup or getting significant minutes off the bench.  He helps the team, no question.  But let's be realistic here.

As I said I'm in the minority.  But I've been consistent ball year in my assessment of GW.  I think he's a nice young man, great representative of the university but inconsistent and yes overrated by many on this board.  Jmho.

I'm not sure you're in the minority.  I think this fan base is big on what have you done for me lately and equating a 4 game winning streak with a player out is par for the course.

End of last year (ironically another 4 game stretch) the board jumped all on board the Greg and Earlington bandwagon claiming we had new found sharpshooters.  I was hard on both saying it was limited stretch.  But this season Greg definiely made me eat my words and came out shooting well again- 2nd in the team in 3pt shooting behind Julian. Is he inconsistent? Sure.  Does he defer more than I'd like him to?  Sure.  But hes averaging 11ppg shooting over 40 from 3 and over 70 from the line.  Plus he is a hawk on Defense.

No one is saying that there's not plenty of minutes available for GW when he returns. Nowhere did I see anyone say that he's worse then Dunn or anyone else and should be a back up. Each player brings their own unique skill sets to the game. But why would CMA want to shake up the starting lineup when the team is playing it's best ball of the year, and when GW may need a few games to get back in the grove? Makes no sense to me, but clearly I don't know anywhere near as much as some of you experts

I'd be curious if some posters here had seen Dunn and Ponds play together in HS ?  And , did they fit well together ?

They won a state championship together. Ponds was MVP, and Dunn made the all-tournament team. If they didn't fit well together they did an awesome job of faking it.

I know SJU has been playing better lately , winning five of six but if there aren't major minutes available for a very athletic backcourtman/ wing who shoots over forty per cent from three which has been a deficiency for SJU forever , the outlook must be awful bright.

I saw the Ponds/Dunn Jefferson team at least twice their senior year include the state finals in Albany. They played well together.

I saw Dunn and Ponds play at Carnesecca, in the 2016 PSAL Semis against Jose Perez and Wings Academy. They played extremely well together. Both looked like High Major D1 players. Dunn handled much of the PG duties, giving Ponds liberty to score off the ball. I noticed during the game that Dunn never really took a jumpshot, even when left wide open. Even to this day it's his only real weakness. Likely the reason why he never got a ton of interest out of High School. I'm glad he's developed a respectable mid-range game.

I wish Dunn's perimeter shot could improve for his own sake.  Really only true glaring weakness, beyond the little things that mighy drive crazy.

It's surprising as he seems to have a decent stroke, decent from foul line, mid-range etc..

I'm sure he works at it, but seems now to have totally shut it down, and his current 13% or so is way off his historical mid 20's.

Dunn really has to make better decisions especially when protecting the lead in the final minutes. I understand he is an asset at the FT line down the stretch and he did clinch the Marquette win with a steal. We've been fortunate to go on this run, however Dunn continues to dribble himself into trouble. Five turnovers yesterday, but Villanova did not take advantage. In a one possession game we may not be so lucky.

If there are 12 seconds or less on the shot clock and Rah has the ball in his hands everyone in the universe knows what's coming next.  You can set your watch by it.

You guys really gotta be ripping Dunn after the way he's been playing recently? Petty.
