A few things that didn't make it in the paper today:

-- Rick Pitino gave a lot of credit to last year's team for establishing the culture. Singled out guys like Joel Soriano, Jordan Dingle, Daniss Jenkins, Chris Ledlum and Nahiem Alleyne. Said a lot of the credit goes to them for this year's team's success.

-- Pitino showered Chris Mullin with love. Said he's welcome to come back any time he wants. Mullin recently compared Pitino to Pat Riley in terms of a coach in the college game. Mullin hasn't been back to a St. John's game or function outside of the Lou Carnesecca funeral since he resigned.

Pitino on Mullin:

"I'm not what St. John's is about. Chris Mullin is what St. John's is about. He's someone that everyone looks up to for what he's accomplished. He is St. John's."

"I haven't been back to Louisville and I was fired from Louisville. He resigned. But what happens is it just takes a little time to heal some wounds. But as far as I'm concerned, he's part of our family. Certainly we want him back any time."
Why would legend come back here after the way our abhorrent fanbase turned on him?

A guard with a big man on him is a decisive advantage against almost every team in the country. Not against us. This isn’t normal. Prey is sliding 20 feet with guards and challenging the shot without help.

Compare it to last year when teams would isolate Ledlum as a 4/3 and absolutely abuse him at 6’5.
He is our third most efficient defender per EvanMiya

Can we just take a minute to look back and laugh about how so many on this board were depressed when Ledlum couldn't come back?

I think that’s an unfair point. Chris was a terrific player and team leader AND an exemplary teammate. He was at MSG this year for a game, and last year’s teammates clearly respected him. He would have played an important role this year if the Court gave him the opportunity Remember what Coach Rick said today about last year’s team. They ARE the cornerstone of our new era.
Ps. I’d take a 6’4” Chris over a 7’1” Vince any day of the week.

🙋🏼‍♂️… I wanted Chis and Jordan… I thought shit finally clicked for Dingle at the end of the season… and always valued Chris’s hustle… think those two at 10 yrs shared exp… invaluable in college.

Does keeping those two mean we don’t get Kadary? Scott? … 🤔
