With about 5 games left, Mullin's last team was considered a dark horse Final Four team.

With 4 games left, Anderson's last team was considered a favorite for the final four he would ever coach.

We need some Medical Expertise in evaluating our rash of “ injuries .”

“ RJ has a groin pull and will not play against UCONN.”
RP quote .

“ Kadary has a groin pull and had been playing through it “
RP quote .

Are groin pulls contagious ?

What’s next ?

“ Devion Smith’s shoulder is healing well.”
“ But , he’s now nursing a groin pull.”
RP quote

“ Coach Pitino has been dealing with a groin pull all season and can’t sit down during the games .”

No RJ, no problem. Best shooting game from deep that I can remember from this team this season. It was great seeing Sadiku produce with the minutes he was given last night. He provided real energy and the team fed from that. They were able to coast, and still won easily. Was a bit worried watching Richmond limp off in the first half, but it was good seeing him back on the floor. Prey has got a really nice stroke - he just needs to develop the confidence, and I think he can be an offensive contributor. He already provides valuable minutes on D and on the glass, but if he could have more confidence in his shot, he can be a heck of a ball player. On to Pukonn, and hope to see a lot of red at the Garden this weekend.

I don't kmow about that. If SHU could have paid Kadary the NIL he received here, they'd at least be as good as we would be without him.

Their best player now is Wusu, and that's a kid who could have helped us this year and last.

Can't gloat. In this era, any school is one Zuckerberg, Gates, Bezos, or Musk NIL donor away from dominating a college sport. Essentially, those donors "own" the franchise, because they can dictate or at least have a strong voice in which players to sign, coaches to hire, or other investments a program makes.

With some coaches, notably Wright, bailing on the sdditional headsche of one year rosters and kids who now have cash in their pockets, Pitino has adapted and used the system to accelerate a rebuild.

SHU, Butler, DePaul are currently among the have nots in college basketball which the NCAA has to (but probably won't) address. It weakens the overall product if less schools can compete.
That is a specious argument because there are just too many good ball players to have a single rich donor dominate CBB. Players want to play, not sit on the end of the bench. Money has always dictated where players go, and no one has been able to remotely dominate except John Wooden and Sam Gilbert.

There was just such a massive talent gap. Even if DePaul had their injured guys you could still argue St John’s had the 5 best players in the game and it would have been 6 if RJ played. Very glad they made this one look easy. Even if it’s away without one of their best players, if they’re a legit top 10 team they should handle it the way the did. So no complaints.

Was a good reminder of what a huge difference having a healthy Smith makes. He’s a 3rd guy along with RJ and Kadary who can get his own bucket and take over a game for a few minutes. They may not be the deepest team but most teams in the conference don’t have 2 guys like that and St John’s has 3. If they’re all healthy and the defense is playing at the level it has been then St John’s is an extremely difficult team to beat this season.

Text from Zach:

A few things that didn't make it in the paper today:

-- Rick Pitino gave a lot of credit to last year's team for establishing the culture. Singled out guys like Joel Soriano, Jordan Dingle, Daniss Jenkins, Chris Ledlum and Nahiem Alleyne. Said a lot of the credit goes to them for this year's team's success.

-- Pitino showered Chris Mullin with love. Said he's welcome to come back any time he wants. Mullin recently compared Pitino to Pat Riley in terms of a coach in the college game. Mullin hasn't been back to a St. John's game or function outside of the Lou Carnesecca funeral since he resigned.

Pitino on Mullin:

"I'm not what St. John's is about. Chris Mullin is what St. John's is about. He's someone that everyone looks up to for what he's accomplished. He is St. John's."

"I haven't been back to Louisville and I was fired from Louisville. He resigned. But what happens is it just takes a little time to heal some wounds. But as far as I'm concerned, he's part of our family. Certainly we want him back any time."
