DePaul (UBS), Tue., Feb. 6, 6:30p, FS-1

Not saying a win here "moves the needle" .... but a 15+ pt win will be nice to see cause it will be "expected"... and could be a "get right" game for some guys...

Would be good for Dunlap to see a couple shots go in / Wilcher to play a good game / Dingle to hit a couple 3s...etc...
Its also one of those cases where a win might not move the postseason needle forward, but it does prevent the postseason needle from combusting on the spot haha

I think it would good for the energy and vibes of this team to have a 20+ blow out.

But this is literally the equivalent of having a buy game in November against Wagner. Won’t be moving any needle, and if we need Jenkins in with five minutes to go, something went horribly wrong

CRP's take on NIL and the future of NCAA sports:

When Pitino spoke about NIL and building a culture he’s exactly right. These kids ego’s were big enough and now they’re getting paid and if they don’t get exactly what they want they can just transfer and leave. These kids on big NIL deals really don’t have that much to play for , they’re already getting paid. That’s why it’s tough to motivate some of these kids.

This is the DePaul game thread.
Obviously, a game to get the team pointed in the right direction and out of our recent 1-5 malaise. Both the players, coaches, and fans’ psyches have been frayed by the losing. It’s corrosive. But one win can do a lot to reset attitudes and recharge batteries in what’s been a hard slog.

Let’s beat DePaul handily, see some shots go in, give guys playing time, and take it from there.

Still counts as a big East win and we need 11-12 of those so, yea its a good opportunity

Pitino needs to recruit guys who hate losing as much as he does.

Sorry I really hate to do this everyone, but this was part of my argument for keeping P*sh. Watched that guy cry after both of our last two BET losses. Hard to find kids these days that care about the name on the front of the jersey as much as the one on the back.

But thankfully we got a kid who went 7-25 at VMI to make cameo appearances every once in awhile. Culture saved 🙄

Pitino's right, there's no loyalty any more. That said, he himself poached his own former players from Iona, loyalty be damned.
We are just about plugged into going 4-0 against DePaul and G’Town and having that get us to 9 wins .
Problem is , all the other teams do too .

We are unanimous that 9 BE wins doesn’t get us to dance . So , we need to hold serve at home against SH and Creighton to get to 11 wins , which should get us in .
We can’t falter in getting those 6 wins ..

Why just pick on Conway ? He hasn’t had any impact on any games .

There may be a select few who know what went on last year with CMA but ,, most only know there was high unrest . As to who all the guilty were is speculation . Some with more evidence than others .

The fact that Fr Shanley and Mike Cragg were involved , more than Pitino speaks volumes .

In fact , in retrospect there were a lot more defections during the CMA years than we acknowledge . Some very good players said” Adios “ to Mike . You know who they were .

Wishing , at this juncture that we retained that group of players is without purpose .

I’m picking on pitino for even bringing conway in. I’ve been incredibly consistent on this back to when he first committed. He never belonged here. Waste of a scholarship. “he changes the culture by being a good locker room guy” Pitino called Wilcher the best teammate on the team and he actually has upside as a highly ranked recruit. Why do we need conway to fill up a scholarship when he offers nothing to us? It was always a terrible idea

It “counts” but no one is looking at a DePaul win as anything more than a Q4 game.
It’s just funny cause every discussion about our at large chances are “let’s just get to 11-9 or 12-8 in conference and see what happens” and now you guys are trying to downplay an opportunity to get an easy conference win.

Weird to me. Every game is CRUCIAL to our hopes of making the tournament. This is a massive game. I know that because if we lose it our at large chances would be nearly shot

Others are disappointing because the potential is clearly there, but it’s so obvious he’s in over his head at this level. I agree.

Agreed, also Drissa was kept around because he's a "great teammate" and Ayo was brought in because he supposedly was something along the lines of the best teammate Pitino had ever seen. Don't need to use 4 scholarships on guys that can't play but are good teammates. Have walk ons or student managers for that
