DePaul (UBS), Tue., Feb. 6, 6:30p, FS-1

Today hurt but if we take care of Georgetown and DePaul and beat seton hall and Creighton at home and take at least 1 on the road of butler Marquette and providence still puts us at 12-8 and a guaranteed bid without needing to win games in the BET
Alot of 'ifs' there for a team that can't close out games but I know what you mean....somebody needs to start doing something in the backcourt other then Jenkins if we're going to have any chance....Dingle is killing us with his lack of shooting...Dunlap and Wilcher are simply too young and RJ with his shin issues and rawness simply wont be able to get it done this year....Dingle just isnt mentally tough...teams have figured how to beat us and unless they start playing exceptional defense which they aree having troublke doing because of their physical limitations, its up to Jenkins to put together a Herculian second half of the season to go dancing

This could be a very valuable win if we can get some guys going. Dingle hit a couple mid rangers today and Jenkins was finding him. Hopefully that’s the start of something good. Grasping at straws lol
He hit those mid rangers when it was a 15 pt game = meaningless.....He's 0-11 from 3 over the last 3 games...he cant hit contested jumpers and in fact nobody on the team can except for Jenkins and occasionally RJ.....definitely grasping at straws lol...but thats essentially what its come down to, it's all about hope and nothing else at this point

Hate to say it but Joel is a stiff. He has dominant stretches but they are now few and far between. He cannot be counted on game by game.

Unfortunately, Jenkins is the only player you can count on night in and night out. Its very disappointing.
Agreed...I think Soriano's mental fortitude will be his downfall because he has the skills but cant compete with the big boys and loses it mentally when things are not going right..although I wouldnt call him a 'stiff'....if they had someone who was an outside threat that would help his out tremendously but we dont

He hit one early on too when it was still very much a game. Off a Jenkins assist

The fact he’s 0-11 from 3 just plays into my point. Maybe he needs to start trying to get exclusively midrange looks. He drilled several today even if a few were after we were down by a lot

Only guy who can somewhat shoot off the dribble is Jenkins…all others need to be catch and shoot including Dingle, Taylor, Dunlap, Ledlum

Can’t count on winning on the road against that trio. Pound Gtown and DePaul and win at home.

Everyone says Dunlap and Wilcher are young, but every night I watch major conference teams play games and most of them have freshman giving nice contributions.

Beware of GTown & DP…it would not shock me at all to lose a game in the 4 game series. I also have zero faith we can beat any of the top teams, because we have lost every game against them. Butler has gotten much tougher and PC is very tough too. Hall is way too athletic for us. Hate to say it but I just don’t see path this season to NCAAT & pray I’m wrong.

good point...I agree....felt like Wilcher was SLOWLY getting there..was hitting a few jumpers per game and seemed like he was starting to get his feet wet a bit...dont know whats going on there now with him in the doghouse...Dunlap cant create yet and is a straight-up set shooter at this point and nobody is getting him the ball, had a few wide open looks that Soriano missed

Wilcher was recruited to play an open court fast-paced game. We don’t have that ability. I think he’ll be fine when we get the horses to run. He seems like a great team player that will make others better.

He will need a combo guard running mate.

Nelson from DePaul just got tossed for a flagrant 2. I don't think that carries over into a one-game suspension, but we'll see.

I would have thought we'd have a couple "good" resume wins in conf by now... but we have lost to "better" teams. a 5th place finish in conf will get us into the Tourney....

If this game vs DePaul is remotely close... then we have something to worry about
Beating DePaul by ample numbers imo does not move the post season needle at all. I will worry about Dance ticket regardless. Let’s see what they do v PC, M’Q, Creighton, Butler & SH and go from there.

Not saying a win here "moves the needle" .... but a 15+ pt win will be nice to see cause it will be "expected"... and could be a "get right" game for some guys...

Would be good for Dunlap to see a couple shots go in / Wilcher to play a good game / Dingle to hit a couple 3s...etc...
