@DePaul, Tue., Feb. 14, 9p, FS-1

In this particular situation, a foul was prudent. There was 2. Something left on the click. As soon s ball is touched a second goes off. Now u r down to 1. Something. Even if DePaul makes the first and intentionally misses the second, unless there is a tap bucket to tie it, game over. If they try a three, it’s too late.DePaul coach blew the game by not fouling .
Are you sure they definitely had time to foul Wusu before he got the shot off? That’s a risk as well.

The foul/not foul argument is just not as cut and dry as some make it out to be IMO.

I would agree if there was a few more seconds on the clock but again the foul would have been made with under 2 seconds to go.

Again, wusu catches the ball with his feet set, facing the basket, and going right into his shot. Do they foul him then and risk getting called for a shooting foul and 3 free throws?

If you look at the replay, his feet were not set, the problem was, he was wide open with no one near him when he caught the ball. If DePail played it correctly, there would have been someone on each player which would have forced Wuxi to make a move to get open. At that time the foul should have been made.

The play that was run to get Wusu the shot to tie the game in regulation are the type of plays that should be run for him all the time. He should not be handling the ball , driving and getting his shot blocked etc. He would be most effective as a spot up shooter.
That play should be run for Storr, all day every day.

You call beating DePaul getting hot? That was a miserable game by both teams. Along with some horrific DeOaul coaching decisions and players on DePaul doing some of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen in a college hoops game , Johnnies just outlasted them physically.
We had no business winning last night given the way we played. Depaul handed the W to us while we were trying to hand it back to them simultaneously like it was hot potato.

Can’t argue that espken. We absolutely should be running plays like that for Storr also. The problem is we don’t run plays for anyone. Storr can be effective offensively in other facets , in my opinion Wusu really can’t.
SJ grease board has no mileage on it

Saying “if DePaul played it correctly” is giving zero credit to St. John’s for running a great play. I don’t think DePaul had time to safely foul wusu before going into his shooting motion. If you want to say sending wusu to the line for 3 free throws isn’t the worst strategy, no complaint there.

1. We were down 13 and I was thinking, "here we go again, another brutal loss". We come down court and Stanley hoist up a corner three, I'm thinking no, no no, yessssssss." And then we get back in the game.

2. At the end of regulation, Storr is guarding his man at the top of the key and with almost no time on the shot clock and moves away from him and he drains that three. I'm not upset, I'm not shocked I just figure typical SJU.

3. Then it becomes Wusu time. That game tying three at the end of regulation was beautiful. I know some guys are saying Storr should have gotten the shot but Posh found his buddy and he produced. He was far and away the best man on the court the last 15 minutes.

4. I'm not sure but wasn't it Wusu who got the steal early in the second OT that broke DePaul's back? Everybody was tired but Dylan just took over.

5. Why didn't we run plays for Joel down the stretch? By then DePaul's bigs were gassed and Joel could have had easy looks and/or drawn fouls. Instead he was up at the top of the key setting screens.

6. In one of the TOs in overtime they were inside the SJU huddle and Anderson was going through his list of cliches, Joel turned his head and was talking to one of the players standing behind him. Anderson got his attention, but 5 seconds later Joel was chatting again. Says a lot about Anderson's control of the team.

7. This game proved there are two worse coaches than Anderson in the BE. Yeah, that's damning with faint praise.

You need to learn your audience. 😂

The team, coaches and AD never do anything right according to Johnny Rapper

Big time shot by Wusu, credit Jones for hitting him in stride. No margin for error.

I do give credit to St. John’s for that play. They took advantage of a DePaul team that was poorly prepared defensively for that play. Kudos to St. John’s and to Wusu for hitting that shot.

I have seen fire and I have seen rain.
I have seen Chris Mullin, Malik Sealy and Ron Artest play poorly.
I have seen Geno and Aaron Spears play well.
I have seen Wusu make layups, Phil
Greene dribble North to South instead of in a circle and I think I once saw Chris Mullin awake in a huddle.
Heck I have seen a Norm Roberts team win a game, Avery Patterson hit 8 threes and I think once I have seen a Boo Harvey post I agree with.
No one is good or bad all the time.
The only exception was Walter Berry who never played poorly his entire time here.
Wusu did play great.
I need to see the tape of a game where Malik played poorly  :)
