Departures Thread

I think Curbelo is suffering from some real mental health issues. I know his antics were frustrating and materially hurt the team last year, but I wish posters wouldn’t resort to calling him names. I think it must be awful to struggle with his issues.
Just cause you think doesn't make it a fact . Maybe he is who he is. I'm sure he had advisors and help . But regardless he found a new home now and wish him nothing but the best

Has Curbelo landed at a program yet?

Anyone know what the guard situation is at Southern Miss. will Dre be the Main Man or do they have an established star(s) returning??

Their assist leader was a departing PF. They had three other guys above 2 apg, but not sure who's coming back or not. Looks like one talented guy has been at three schools already.

When I went to college (admittedly 30 years ago), it would have been almost impossible to transfer colleges and graduate in three years. David Jones did this while playing D-I basketball?

I am not trying to throw shade on Jones (a lot of players have done the same), I am just saying.....I don't think this is commonly achieved among "regular" students.

Jones is definitely a serious talent, but I don't think Penny is good enough to slap on guard rails and harness it.
I dont want to disparage the kid, but Jones is a scorer not an all around basketball player. Can he score enough or improve his all around game enough to be a contender for POY? I guess anything is possible, but based on what we've seen so far, highly unlikely. And as you said, Penny probably isn't good enough a coach to make much of a difference in Jones' game.

When Michael O'Connell graduated from Stanford in 3 years and transferred to NC State, the posts just congratulated him and wished the young man well at his new school. Wonder what the difference is when it comes to David Jones? IJS.

Bad example. One of them was at the same school for 3 years and one hasn’t been at either school they attended for 2 full years. 1.5 at DePaul, & 1 at sju. Hard to graduate that way.

I have absolutely no idea what iss going on. But if he is supposed to be a Grad transfer, he must have received his degree or is taking summer classes to complete his course work. Why is that a problem?

It’s not a problem. It’s just hard to believe a D1 athlete graduated in 2.5 years while attending two different schools.

2.5 years is reason alone to be skeptical. Transferring makes it that much more difficult. It’s not an attack on the kid.

Potential POY candidate? Did Rothstien watch him play at all last season?
Removing Houston the AAC is a step down from the BE. Think Jones will put up numbers next year and could see him being in discussion for AAC Player of the Year.

If true, guess that means St Johns is just handing out degrees????
