Departures Thread

USC at the Garden would have been fun this coming season. Maybe will get that matchup in 24-25 Gavitt Games.

Don't see Gardner having a meaningful role this year on that team. Could see him getting antsy and looking to leave after a year.

Out of all the kids that left our program Gardner was the one that really left a bad taste in my mouth. One night his mom says he is loyal and committed next day out the door . So how can you be loyal yet leave? Oh yeah money and no guarantee in playing time . Cuerbelo was just a clown, the rest of our guys played hard with bad coaching . Good luck to our former players and thank you

Hmm lebron James son goes to usc thinking bg's mom sees more money. The fact he is just announcing this in June is pretty telling. Plus RP would make him a better pro my gut says it's just about the money with this kid
And if it is, who can blame him? Don’t know his financial circumstances. Even with superior coaching most kids won’t make the NBA. I wish him luck.

I think Curbelo is suffering from some real mental health issues. I know his antics were frustrating and materially hurt the team last year, but I wish posters wouldn’t resort to calling him names. I think it must be awful to struggle with his issues.

I had a pretty long conversation with him at the basketball dinner. Intelligent and articulate kid. Father Rock told me he always has his nose in a textbook. I believe he told me he has no family in New York, that most/all are in Puerto Rico. The concussions give him migraines, and bright lights bother him a lot, hence the yellow glasses. He appears to be one of the brightest kids on the team and maybe the most serious about academics. He says he plays with a lot of emotion, and obviously has to learn to control that. Obviously he did a lot of ridiculous things which makes you wonder if concussions and migraines are the full extent of his injuries. Just watching him it appeared that coaches didn't reprimand him for not being in the huddles. He should have been bounced just for showing up at the press conference to show up the coach afyer being suspended. He did come to games, maybe on his own and maybe wothout permission and i think he sat in stands.

D'Angelo Harrison learned to control his emotions and it's too bad Curbelo hasn't done that yet.

I worked a couple of US Open tennis tournaments as a student, and was around players all day and night. Bjorn Borg was the master of cool, rarely exhibiting emotion during a match, never an angry outburst. The story goes that as a teen he had an outburst on the court and smashed a racket on the ground in anger. After the match his father took all of his rackets and wouldn't let him play for a couple of months so Bjorn would learn a lesson.

Definitely was a big problem of this past year's team, but i.hope he pulls himself together. The staff did a horrible job tolerating it though

It may be related to the concussions he's suffered.
