D1 Coaching Changes

I think this is what's gonna happen. He's doing incredible things at Rhode Island. Unless UConn gets into a better conference, I see him potentially heading to a school like Duke if he can turn the Huskies around.
Or he will be priority #1 for Seton Hall. I think Duke will wait for Greg Marshall as they are the only school in his price range.
Hard to predict these things, since I once thought the successor would be Brad Stevens if they went outside the tree. But there really aren't many guys who could step into that job, and Marshall is one of them. He's already in his mid-50s, though. If K hangs on another five years, does Duke really hire a 60-year-old?
First off 60 is the new 50. Coach K would be going on 77 if he stayed another 5 years. I doubt he stays more than a couple of years more if he doesn't advance in the dance.

Ole Miss is expected to hire Middle Tennessee State coach Kermit Davis, source told ESPN. Official announcement expected later this week.
That MTSU job is going to be an attractive one. Kermit really got that program going, despite the snub this season.

Hopefully he doesn't flop in the SEC.
I guess the fictional Atticus Finch fell into the 5%. Talented and powerful men like Rupp had the platform to change peoples lives for the better much earlier.
As did Don Haskins, who was quite real.

So say those who are over 60. :)

I think Duke has other people in line when that comes. I don’t think he would even be consider. Unless you meant Bobby.
I often wonder if Steve Wojciechowski at Marquette is someone holding out for the Duke job. Although he hasn't had a on of success just yet, figured he'd use this Marquette job as a springboard and move on sooner rather than later.
I just think it will be someone who has sat next to K on the bench. Whether they are there now or not.

Or maybe Coach is using us as a springboard and finally goes to Duke. Just kidding

Thad Matta told ESPN he is not taking the Georgia job. Story coming.

Interesting. Sounded like a good match.

Hoping you're wrong about UConn. The guy's been a big winner.

Kevin Ollie won a national championship. Can't get bigger than that.

Maybe, but Matta's .740 winning percentage & 13 NCAA appearances for three different teams over 17 years is pretty special. Doesn't look like Ollie will ever come close to that.

Matta reportedly turned down five years @ $3.2 million. Said he didn't feel "completely ready" to accept the offer.

Very true! I was being sarcastic as all it took at Uconn was two bad seasons (or average seasons at St. John's ) to get fired.
Matta is a high echelon coach for sure but he had serious health issues that caused him to step down. Not sure of his current interest in coaching again.

Memphis pulled off a great move with Penny Hardaway. The number one and number 25 recruit for 2019 plays for Penny Hardaway AAU program.

Hopefully he hires Slice to return to Pitt and get him off our payroll.:pinch:

Not so sure I'd want Slice recruiting against us in the metro area.. (Great shot of Crean, by the way.)
