Pitt has offered Dan Hurley a multi-year deal in excess of $3 million dollars annually to be its next head basketball coach, per multiple sources. UConn and URI still in
Good fit. If he takes the job, I imagine several of the players who requested their release will consider staying.

Per Pittsburg Gazette

Arizona coach Sean Miller and Pitt athletic director Heather Lyke have discussed the Panthers’ vacant head coaching position, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation.

I was thinking the other day that this could happen. Miller obviously could use a fresh start. Now whether Pitt is 100 percent serious or doing this simply to prod Hurley into making a move, I'm not sure.

Just for those paying attention, that is 50% more than Mullin is making and likely far above what SJU would consider at this point, although getting over sticker shock may just be a hurdle someday, just as Jarvis' pricetag and Lavin's was

Per Brian Rauf
Sean Miller says in a statement that he's not a candidate for the job at Pitt, his alma mater. "I am not a candidate for the University of Pittsburgh men's basketball head coaching vacancy. I wish them well in their search for a new coach."

Louisville formally informed interim coach David Padgett that they will be finding someone else to fill the head basketball coach position on a permanent basis, Padgett told 247Sports.

Chris Mack first on list. Bet he stays

Pitino was ready to submit his resume to Arizona the second Miller left.

The only reason a currently successful coach would consider the L'vil job is for a massive payday. If you're a young guy with credentials then it could ruin your career. If you're a guy like Mack who could demand one of the big jobs, you could do better. I wonder how that will play out with Addidas? Best candidate for L'ville would be someone like Jim Calhoun or Larry Brown Guy who can win no matter what and keep them relevant, but won't be around long.
If no Chris Mack, would Louisville consider Dan Hurley?
If Hurley would go there, they'd be morons not to. (Personally I think Pitt would be a great move for him) When we were younger L'vil was a serious hoops program. Then they were fairly irrelevant. Pitino (and Adidas money) made them relevant again. Unless Kentucky gets caught up in the FBI prosecutions, Louisville could fade pretty quick if they make the wrong moves.
Miller should apply for the Louisville job. Or maybe Pitino.
they could switch then everyone would be happy and status quo returned

Then we could compare who indeed is the better cheater. Although Pitino actually is a better coach so that might skew the results.

Only a rumor but, apparently there has been some communication between L’ville and Billy Donavan . This is coming from L’ville sources . Obviously , the Cards want to move on , clean up their Program and get back into contention . The inside info alleges there is some degree of mutual interest . Padgett , interim Coach who did a good job was let go today .

I have no doubts that they would want him, but we'll see. Given the choice, I'd rather live in Louisville than Oklahoma City, that's for damn sure.

I was impressed with the job Padgett did this year at Louisville. I would be surprised if he didn’t get a HC gig somewhere soon.
Willard ???
He wins, and having the Louisville name does more for recruiting than the Seton Hall name, but is it a sexy enough hire?

If they are willing to spend the cash, maybe they shoot for the stars and try to get Marshall.

Also, how much does Willard "win"? In 8 years at the Hall, he has 3 tourneys, a Big East title and 1 NCAA win. Last three years have been good, built off the Tiny and Antigua hires. First 5 years - not so much, and he inherited some quality players his first year at the Hall (four legit BE type players in Hazell, Theodore, Robinson and Pope).

I don't think Louisville hires Willard unless they are desperate. And they shouldn't be desperate. Pitt is a different story altogether.
